Laguna, that's a heck of a job to do in a space like that! Thank you, Pablo, and no, that is the same boot that's always been there. It must have been covered in grease from the factory, because when I cleaned all the grease off, that nice boot was underneath! Today I got the flywheel surfaced- anyone think that .002" of extra step will be a problem? (should be .020, but the flywheel guy said he got it to .022") I don't think it will be a big deal- but I'm not the best thinker! Also got my manifolds ready to surface. Tim @ Ralph Hayes got me my OEM exhaust to intake insulator plate in 4 total days from the time of order w/ no special shipping-AND he had to have the part delivered to HIM first! Good work, Tim! (that's S.C. to Cal.) New rings and springs in the front manifold horn- number six horn is still pretty snug.

Pics of your take on a brake, please.

just finished the frame on the bj60, so its the pigs turn for the shop.

today I tried to start it, i failed:bang:

Here's a pic of the brake. I didn't weld the pivot point good enough, so it broke the first time I tried to use it. :( Better luck tomorrow I guess. (oh and there is normally a piece of 1/4 inch angle iron mounted on those bolts. They allow for adjustment for different gauges of metal)

Here's what I did today:
1: Ground/sanded/prepped the pass. door jam area to accommadate the half doors, which will be completely sealed and welded on. I wanted to keep the body line intact.
2: Tacked in two pieces of metal to close up the bed sides a little bit.
3: Finished the sheet metal brake above which promptly broke.
4: Cut the drivers rear door in half to get it ready to be welded in. I'm going to use the wing window just behind the drivers and passenger seat so that there is no blind spot.

I got my piggie a buddy

I got my piggie a buddy, a 69 with lots of rust. It will be a great parts rig

Nice score. Your piggy must have been a very good child this last year!

Dropped pan of new motor (about as sloppy as a soup sandwich). Nothing screamingly alarming about the first glance at the insides of the beast, and I'm starting to wonder just how long ago it had last seen daylight. The pick up screen was cleaner than any chevys pick up I've seen. Looks like I'll have to do a bit of plug welding on my pan, and clean up the lip w/ a hammer. I'm prolly just going to mig over the factory spot welds from the inside- and I'll just do them all for good measure. Dropped the rear main cap and slipped out the rear main seal. Ho ho ho :)

Well, it appears Santa brought Pigwald some tunes for Xmas. On my way shortly to Radio Shack to pick up some speaker wire, in line fuse, shrink tape etc....by days end it should be in and workin. It's a Kenwood head unit and 4, 6" Alpine speakers. Obviously, not super high tech sound system but it will fill the hole in the dash, doors, and rear panels and sound better than the current road noise :grinpimp:

...and CarnMontana...that 69 does not have rust ...this is rust  https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-pig-preservation-society/281801-may-potm-cochon-de-tere.html
