I remembered I was getting close to a milestone, looked down and Bingo! The engine was replaced by the P.O. with a JDM import
and now has 200k~.
I did the math, bought it in 2017 with 149.000, which equates to 18k/year (Thank God for the company daily driver).

We just returned from another epic summer trip. 3 months through the western US, British Columbia & Alaska. Great time with plenty of wheeling in the Cruiser along with my friend Larry in his Samauri & my Brother in his Jeep.
A sad ending for my cruiser occurred on the Olympic peninsula when the hitch on my motorhome failed and it went on its last off road excursion up an embankment rolling a few times & winding back on the PCH, total loss. Fortunately, nobody was hurt, although my heart was crushed...
40 great years with this 77 FJ.
My search for another FJ lead me to Copperstate Cruisers Clubhouse on Mud, that I was previously un-aware of. Also totally unaware of the tough FJ40 market
Any leads on an FJ that needs a home?
Mine was a 77, Saginaw PS, Ausi locker in front with Longfield axles, HFS springs, u-bolt flip... I was a young man when I bought it back in 1985.

There’s a couple on marketplace for sale right now.

One of those bummer but rewarding times having a winch. Not the first thing I imagined for it's maiden usage. :(
My neighbor's Mule passed away out of reach of the backhoe (under that roof) and had to drag her up to the gate.

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do... Ive had that issue with a cow once.. ya no fun

Took mine out for a shakedown run after new springs, bushings and front radius arms. All good there!

Found that when in 4 low, and shifting into reverse - it immediately starts accelerating! Not fun when turning around on a narrow road, and backing towards the edge. I've got a post in the 80 Tech forum, but if anyone has any thoughts, I'm all ears.

Here's the gratuitous lame poser shot.

Could it be a faulty speed sensor?

Been trying to chase down a way of making my steering more responsive. Took a go-pro video of my Toyota TRE to Chevy pitman arm and as I started to turn the pivoting of this connection was adding in slop to the steering responsiveness.
Found this option on Pinterest (double shear joint with the use of a Heim Joint attached to the steering arm).
Learned a new pre-heat welding procedure, fun stuff!
