Build What did you do to your Land Cruiser/Toyota/Lexus 4X4 this week?

Sold the 5th gen. This was a neat rig. Looking for a new daily driver if anyone knows of anything cool for sale. 200 series could be an option. F150 with a coyote engine is on the table. Open to leads for anything really, maybe even a 3/4 ton gasser. I'll be cruising around in the Raptor for now.View attachment 3813218View attachment 3813222
Replaced the fifth gen with this beauty. It’s in great shape and I love it. Changed out the oils in the front and rear diffs and transfer case today.

Replaced the water pump/timing belt and the whole 9 yards that goes with it on the 3rd gen. Even found a couple extra
yards and some hurdles, but figure I am good till the kids take my keys away (on this end).

Finally got around to doing some maintenance on the 200 and figured I might as well do a fun little add on while I'm at it. Replaced my cracked radiator, main radiator hoses, serpentine belt, belt tensioner, idler pulley, oil change, and installed a Rival 4x4 Bumper & Baja Designs Squadrons "while I was in there".

I was really wanting a Dissent bumper, but it would cost $3,300 before shipping and the Rival was on sale for $1,399 (from $1,799) after shipping. Time will tell how this works out for me but that price for an aluminum body bumper weighing 110lbs was too good of a deal to turn away for my non-primary cruiser. That being said, I am very happy with the look and build quality at the price point (some welds aren't as clean and the look is a little more aggressive than I was really wanting) and I don't have any complaints aside from the rubber gasket that sits between the bumper and body.

In case you don't like reading- The moral of the story below: If you have failing, low mileage BFG tires under 5 years old, go get them replaced, for cheap! Nothing is guaranteed but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Had some new rubber installed today. Saturday, while getting new tires at Discount for my gf's Lexus, I asked them about a concern with my BFG KO2s on my 80. Rewind to this past summer... I ran by a different Discount tire location to inquire about some unusual cracking on my 4 year old tires. I was completely blown off by this kid who didn't seem interested in helping me with my "non-issue", "they're fine" he said. I was busy and didn't give it any more time. So, back to this weekend. After the Lexus is done, at the advice of the fella at the different Discount tire location, I ran home to get my 80. After a quick inspection and a couple of minutes on his computer, he offered me BF Goodrich's warranty coverage. The KO2s had 4 years, 8 months and 15,000 miles (yes, 15,000... it's a garage queen/camp rig, not a daily driver). After a prorated adjustment and my veteran discount (5%) I got all five BFG KO3, 315/75-16 load range E tires for $435 bones.

The BF Goodrich warranty covers workmanship defects for 5 years. It clearly states that it DOES NOT include dry rotting but I'm not going to argue with the "authorized dealer". That being said, no moderately off roaded, garage kept, regularly rotated, 15000 mile tires should look like mine did. If these KO3s do the same thing, it's time for a brand change.

They look a little bit different than the KO2s. They feel nice on the road but I haven't had them on dirt yet. Has anyone else put them to the test?

Installed an alpine head unit and cheapy front camera. Added alpine’s Bluetooth volume knob as well (above the 4wd selector). Went with trail grid pro for the purchase and they prewire everything, mount the trim kit and program the maestro. Takes a little bit to get to you, but pretty nice compared to doing it all yourself and about the same price as just buying the parts. Front camera took over half the install time since you have to go through the firewall and blah blah blah. Sound is much improved.

@Cactuscrzr … I just traded my 13 for an ‘18 Tundra. Lots of improvements, but damn the stock head unit is awful… and I’m not particular. Sound, Bluetooth capability, etc. yuck! This upgrade looks good!

Yes, mine is non-JBL amplified stock and pretty lame. I was prepared to do mini sub, amp and all other speakers next but I think just the head unit is good enough, at least for now. Half the time I want silence anyway. :)

Working on reinstalling the hardtop on my 40 as well as reinstalling the new headliner I got from SOR back in 2018-ish. The PO gave me the weatherstriping kit and it came with this SOR 108-04 (2ea) foam pads.
I have tried to interpret from the SOR website where they go but I am at a loss... Anyone know better???

I bought a friend for my 80.
2018 TRD, 5.7l 70k miles. I really like this rig! It’s so nice to have seating room for the first time in ages.
Got rid of the ugly 20’s that were on it and put 17’s and 285’s.
Slightly ambitious on the tire size, I had to cut 2” off the wings of the front bumper and remove all the mud flaps up front.
Just installed a Bilstein leveling kit.
Once I pay off the wheels and tires, I want to do an OME 2.5 lift.

Meet the Great Pumpkin.

Congrats Alvin! I see so much potential there, one of the Four Wheel Campers?
Coastal makes a cool fun to build bumper for those...:hmm:

I’m loving it.
Not sure how far I want to go with it yet. 😂

I really like that front bumper! Thanks for the link!
