Piecing together the 80 post paint respray. Got flares painted, gaskets on and installed. Also got all the door handles on, lights back in and grill back on. Probably need to do one more round of wet sanding and polishing overall before we call it done.

Looks like a very nice job!

View attachment 1469749 Alvin helped me with a little welding. Thanks Alvin!

Was this a repair or something to make it easier to remove the fill plug? I went with the 10MM allen head plugs that Toyota sells on my FJ62. Still need to do the rear axle. But before I drain it have to sure and get the fill plug off otherwise will be down until I can get off. The swallow head was not one of Toyota's better ideas.

I made a mistake and let my mechanic change the diff oil a few years ago as I was in a rush. He must of used gorilla strength putting it back on. I ended up rounding the plug, no big deal if you have a friend with a welder.

I've had the hex plug waiting in the wings and are now installed. Now just to gird myself to get the AC fixed. I'm afraid my compressor has died and fear the bill.

Thinking it was trying to get it off that was the issue. That's about where I'm with my rear diff. Rounded it off and used vise grips last time. Was a long time ago but my FJ62 has been semi retired for a long time. Just lately has become my DD, but still not many miles. Guess I'm lucky I haven't had to deal with the A/C in the twenty-four years I've owned it. At 7,000' it's not being taxed that hard.

LCP attic rack, splice and reroute fridge wire through the firewall - this was a pain. Added extra wire to use or as a pull through wire for future. Had it rigged horribly through the fender and down the door jam as a last minute solution last year. Made my own puddle lights with inspiration from a couple other MUD members. Had points on Amazon so lights were free, sort of. Mounted them facing up for a more subtle light. Will need to rework and splice the wiring as there is a little too much extra bunched up in there than I like.

Very nice, I like those lights underneath. I'm planning a whole bunch under mine but with a twist...I'm aiming them primarily to see the hard to see spots so I don't need a trouble light working in the driveway, the excess light will spill out nicely and function as subtle puddle and camp lights (keep the bugs outside too).

You need one of these things for the grommet penetration, it will literally put a smile on your face the first time you use it. I had to make one from a flux brush when I did my door speaker wiring: Amazon.com: Thexton THE476 Wire Insertion Tool Combo: Automotive

Got up extra early to install my steering bushing seal on the firewall...spent an hour looking for it...ordered ANOTHER one from CBT only to have CBT call me and tell me that someone else had JUST ordered one a few minutes earlier and they were giving the in stock one to them.

You just made the list buddy! :flipoff2:

Mine is coming in freight tomorrow. That cover is filthy with dust, looking forward to sealing that hole up!

Looks like a good tool. However drilling the hole and getting the grommet in and wire through was the easy part. Contorting and getting everything moved way up in the foot well by the firewall in these sucked. But it's done.
