Those steering shafts can be a bugger to get unstuck. When I replaced my tie rod ends I took the whole rod out, put it in a vise, got it nice and hot with an oxygen-acetylene torch and used a large pipe wrench to get the tie rod ends out. When reassembling I made sure to use a thin coat of anti-seize on the threads.

Just buy entirely new rods from partsouq. Shipped in less than a week and was less than 300 bucks if I remember correctly.
Might wanna find a european alternative. But thanks!

Back from my road trip had to hang some bling while I wait for the new Stereo to Amazon in .

Now I can wire the gauges and sort some more boost :)

Will you be making more? If so, first in line with American dollars….. 😂😂

Not gunna lie making s*** is easy what I suck at is dealing with customers and shipping lol.

If your serious I can do them at $137.50 shipped vis USPS payment via PayPal good and services ( fees included ) , It only needs the 3 axis so I can squeeze it in on the weekend as I can run 5 at a time and could ship Monday.

I don’t talk about money publically. You shouldn’t either.

First time at the rodeo?

I’ll PM you, dude.

thanks for the advice. I will look into it once i get a little more time on my hands! For now i just wanted a quick fix since the unalligned steering wheel annoys me. But i will replace those rods. Whats a good indicator that the damper needs replaced? Do I go stock on that one or can you recommend any aftermarket like ARB?
Im running same size wheels that it was born with, so THAT i did right ;)

Hello,

Steering dampers are one application in which aftermarket is better than OEM, at least in my book.

A good steering damper reduces the effort to turn the steering wheel and the front axle.

ARB is a good option. So is Dobinsons.

This is just awesome Phil! Glad to hear this has worked out much better for you!! That is a steep climb indeed! I am assuming you were also loaded down with gear and supplies as well, so this is definitely a win! Way to go!

If you end up over in this neck of the woods, let me know!

🤣
I'm at the BC Overland rally... This is totally up your alley and not that far away. Here till Sunday... Just sayin.

Can I ask what your home base altitude is and altitude of some of the passes you cross?

Am looking for perspective....I'm pretty much sea level......currently around 1k and probably wont see much outside of 2-3k and so far no temp issues on my stock 1HZ

I reflect back on the 40 I drove around the country decades ago and lived above 10k for a while and never had temp issues with the 2F

I live at 1100m but today went up the coquihalla hwy from 400 to about 1500m in about 75kms. Never went above 205*f. But not what I'd call fast. Lol.

Haven't posted in this thread for awhile. Wrapped up the final piece of my automatic to manual conversion.

@Zee sent over some awesome parts from Pakistan awhile back:

Added in a bunch of new parts that Toyota still makes:
  • Coin slots (55539-20020-C0) or Blanks (55539-32010-C0)
  • Parking Brake Lever (46210-60170-B0)
  • Parking Brake Cover (46243-60060-B0)
  • Parking Brake Cable (46410-60490)
  • Cupholders (Odd Iron Off Road / BH3D)

Overall, I'm happy with the outcome. Big thanks again to @Zee for the Pakistan parts and @bhicks for the sweet cupholder.

This is my cruiser-related nightmare, someone else having to use it and damaging it. My dad walked into my side mirror and luckily didn't break it but moved it, and it took a solid 20 mins for my heart-rate to drop back to normal 😁

There is no way around it. You have to hand your key over for them to do the inspection. I decided to remove the bonnet protector and trash it. It does look better without it but still.....

I don't know how much I am allowed to share or if I am even allowed to post pics so I unfortunately I can't share anything.... but I saw the first VDJ 70 series yesterday in person. All I can say is wow....what an amazing engine. Too bad it is not sold here.

The coin slots make a handy place to add switches. 😊

Do you do a pre-flight check before operating all those switches?

Although their numbers may still be in the single digits, the V8’s are starting to find their way into the U.S.
