Ooooh. Nice! Still waiting on my 1HZ short block. Been a journey as you know. At least I've had plenty of time to clean and get my other orders in.

I went in another direction and got the -17190 iteration which is available in the US as well.

It’s the one with the water inlet/outlet capped off for the heater.

Pop the freeze plugs, add the RH pipe assy and the LH water union and it becomes a -17120.

Strong!! Stopping by to hassle the local parts guy Monday. I'll inquire about the 17190. Hurts my sole walking by all the lonely new parts laid out in the garage.

Thanks for the help.

Done and done.
Time to go adventurin’ with the kiddos.

Seatbelt that precious cargo

I tried. Seatbelt wasn’t big enough so I used my right arm to keep it steady. It is safe in my living room now. Didn’t even want to put it in the garage!

The funny part of this all is that no one ever asked me what it was for until this third time I was picking it up. The parts guy working that day and was new to me (I never seen him before) flat out asked me if it was for a diesel cruiser.

Tech Tip #2: how to determine the year of your 1HX engine:

1. Look at the #6 cylinder RH side block boss: You will see a number: this number will reflect the casting and machining date of the block itself. (-YR|MTH|DAY)

2. Examine your main bearing cap assembly at the #1 cylinder, RH side, behind the water pipe and in between the alternator and the main bearing cap: You will see another number: (-YR|MTH|DAY)

These are your casting/machining dates. Remember: there are two major processes in engine block building: Casting/machining and assembly.

In the case of legacy Toyota engines like a 1HZ (34 years of continuous manufacture), they are still, generally, hand assembled; a human is in the loop. Current Toyota engines are very automated in terms of assembly. Less human.

3. On the front of the block, the top freeze plug, you will find notations: it generally corresponds (at least at Toyota Industries Corporation) to the month/day of assembly and the manufacturing assembly line.

In this case, June 11; Engine Assembly Line 2:

That will allow one to order the correct parts for correlative applicability.

Can't say for sure. It does have a standard 254 mm x 114,3 mm (10" x 4,5") bolt pattern for winch, but I don't know if it has enough space for 8274. Runva 12500 lbs was easy to install on it.
thank you , is it possible to measure the distance from the grille to the surface inside?
