Park Service worries more about your dog on a leash than they do about kids running, shrieking and attempting to stone the wildlife. They jam hundreds of people together in campgrounds devoid of space and privacy then make endless patrols to ensure no one has food that might attract bears.
Canadian parks are founded on the principle that most people who visit are nature lovers not teenage vandals.
Yeah, we had a similar experience at Glacier about 6-years ago, ended up going up into Canada to Waterton and it was such a better experience. Dogs were welcome as well as bikes, plus a fraction of the people and the people that we did encounter were very nice and not your typical American Tourist.

Parks in rainy British Columbia had special tent-only sites. Pitch your tent in the provided sandbox and watch the torrents drain away. Large pavilions nearby with charcoal grills and dishwashing sinks under a roof.

I put in a new led light into the kaymar bumper. For some reason, right side light was not working. I had ordered and received the new light from Australia. Kaymar gets their lights from this place in case anyone is wondering.... 200 Series - LED Autolamps - https://ledautolamps.com/combination-lamps/14-200-series.html

I decided to tackle another minor issue that was bothering me since I had gotten the Escape Gear covers. The HZJ77 ZX models come with this knob on the drivers seat that is for lumbar control. Escape Gear covers are not meant for seats with this knob as this feature seems to be exclusively ZX option for the JDM 77 and 73 series. I figured out how to remove the knob, made a small hole in the seat cover and installed the knob back on externally. The cover slides on much better also with that pesky knob in the way.

I also installed the new side power mirrors (after I swapped the 24V power motors into them due to only 12V variants available now). I will never do the task of swapping the motors out in these again, it was really difficult to get the mirror back on properly but good thing is they are working as intended.

I was going to install new headlights today but had to abort because I realized some of the screws and bolts in the headlight assembly are pretty rusty and corroded so I decided to order new screws/bolts for that before replacing the headlights.
Good call on the seat cover modification. I'm in. That bugs me on my set for sure.

Snuck in a little four day trip with a few buddies. Busted an exhaust mount on the way in...Hella rattle on the way out.

The knob is held on by a clip. It takes some pushing of the fabric/cushion to the side and some thin pliers to pull that ring out. Pretty simple though.

I used a hollow hole puncher slightly bigger than the diameter of the stud that the knob rests on.

Thank you! (again). Fabric fray at all? Little flame or something to help with that?

Stark contrast to Latin America, even Baja which is doable from where I live in about 15-18hrs of driving. Tacos and camping where ever I like, for the most part. Extremely remote camping and off-roading too if I want. I have ALWAYS gone to the bush to “get away” “from it all” so have never been fond of crowds when I camp.

One of the main reasons I LOVE Latin America, it is N. America in the 1950/60’s. 😉

Cheers

This is not anything I did new recently. I installed these interior led lights awhile back but wanted to say that I like using them as they really brighten up the cabin space. The bulbs came from Odd iron offroad and it was a pretty simple install.

I did the same and its bright as hell. Did you get one for the rear? My LC didn’t have a light in the rear so I bought a small LED work light and mounted it using the same screws that cover the hinges.

Maybe that is why it is so bright. I have one in the rear also. Same for map light. It came as a set for all three sections.

I've been looking for that high/low shift knob... do you have part number of the knob?
It came on the cruiser when I got it. Doesn’t seem to be available when I tried looking it up on partsouq just now and perhaps substituted by p/n 36303-60211-C0 which doesn’t look exactly like it. Sorry.

The leather wrapped t case knob on my HDJ80 is 36303-60240-CO. Readily available on Partsouq.

Does yours say “L4” or just “L”? Been looking for the “L4” version to match the new shift knob I have for the transmission. That part number doesn’t show up on partsouq so I can’t check.

Edit: looks like 36303-60250-CO is the “L4” version. I just ordered it. Hope it comes that way.

Rough translation from Japanese site: [トヨタ ランドクルーザー70]トヨタ(純正) 本革巻トランスファーノブ(ブラックレザー) - https://minkara.carview.co.jp/userid/2543005/car/2287964/8108555/parts.aspx

The part number is
It will be 36303-60250-CO.
By the way,
The shift knob of the H-N-L pattern is
It will be 30603-60240-CO.

It's decided,
Please do it at your own risk!

I got the kit he sells for my Troopy. It came with two lights, one for the front and one for the rear. When I installed both, they wouldn't go out completely when I close the door, they just get dimmer. Probably due to a bad door switch/ground on my truck that's not opening the circuit completely and the LEDs take such a wide voltage range. I've not taken the time to trace it down, just put the incandescent rear light back in and left the mid/center LED installed, just the one is more than bright enough for the whole interior.

thats odd, i have the kit as well and it works great on mine, so, yeah, maybe a ground or switch issue. get it fixed brah, that bright LED when cooking and stuff is fantastic.

What did I do on my 70 today? I'm in the process of flushing out the radiator, but I can't figure out how to access the rear bolt on the thermostat housing of this 3B, so the job is going slowly. I also replaced the glow plugs.

I appreciate your post on the taillights. I've got aftermarket lights in my rear bumper, but no matter that I put in bulbs rated for 24V they keep burning out. These may be an option for me.
