It gets its on data, the boost controller has its own boost signal. These electronic boost controllers are a stand alone item and work on any vehicle.
What do you mean by "automatically make the adjustment"? Whether you're using a manual or an electronic boost controller, you still need to decide the boost level appropriate for your circumstances. Diesel's aren't like gas engines where you have a low and a high boost setting, as the fueling needs to be matched to the boost, and it's a mechanical adjustment for fuel on everything before the 1HD-FTE's, so once you're finished tuning you'd just leave it alone.
this jives with one of my previous posts; the 12ht is an old motor/system that a manual boost controller is designed for, get your boost to desired level, tighten knob, and drive. Fuel delivery isn't going to be done by an electric controller so what's the point? You DO need an EGT gauge before you touch boost and fuel levels.
@rideglobally , just find a manual model you like, set it and forget it.

Great thank, does an electronic boost controller have any advantage for my application in anyway. My engine is a 12th with the old Gturbo. I am thinking of getting the in turbo smart in cabin boost controller In Cabin Boost Controller Black - https://www.turbosmart.com/product/in-cabin-boost-controller-black/

On these old turbo diesels, the boost controller is used to set the max boost pressure before the wastegate opens and bleeds the extra pressure off. It's a "set it and forget it" step in the overall tuning of these engines. The balance of adjustments would be to the fuel pump to match fueling to your increased boost level.

IMO, an electronic boost controller shouldn't be required here in most people's cases. A manual boost controller can do the same job for less $$, and complexity.

Later I remove manual and install JDM Blitz SBC Type s.
Electronic boost controller works better then manual

Hi,

I use a Dawes Device.

Cheers

Heads up: I ordered a Dawes about two months ago and never received any communication at all, let alone a boost controller. I actually had to get a refund via PayPal! Super bummed, not sure what's going on.

Having issues with my setup.

I'm using a turbosmart boost controller on my 1HD-FT with Gturbo red wheel.

I can't get the turbo to hold boost no matter how I adjust the controller. I did a bench tune for the actuator and set it to 25 psi and did a little less pressure on the controller. Heck, I even set it to 20PSI and it will boost past it and the wastegate would open.

Really really frustrating! I'm assuming the turbosmart is designed for gas engines? I removed the top cap and let it bleed but still, it would fly past it. even with the hoses disconnected, it would still build boost and the waste gate would still open.

anyone run into a similar issue?

I am also having a problem controlling boost. I have a basic MBC like the blue one on the first page. It doesn't seem to change the boost no matter what setting I have it at, until it is fully closed. Then of course the boost will spike up to 18 or so, and come back down to around 12psi. I don't know if I have a wastegate issue or something else going on. It is driving me nuts. Considering just tightening the wastegate arm.

None...... Yeeeee haaaaaaa! VROOM VROOM!!!! 25 psi 3B

go fast bits manual boost controller

I had this controller before or something very similar. I had the same issue you describe. The controller was useless, so it got tossed and swapped it for the Dawes and I have no issues setting the Dawes. Per a post above, I'm not sure if they are still making their MBC though.

Okay, good to know. Thank you. I'll see what I can find.
