I gutted the galley in the trailer. Now to make some more panels. Going to add about 8" back into the sleeping area and allow a better layout to be able to work on elec system and upgrade the fridge in the future.

Thanks to Clifton for coming over to troubleshoot my 80 with me. Cleaned the MAF of whatever it’s called and walked me through setting the timing which seemed to be ~25° out. Learned I need to buy a timing light and how to use one. Never had a car old enough to need one before this.

Starts up and idles exactly where it should be now. Back to a sewing machine and got to drive it on a beautiful afternoon

25 deg is a lot, surprised it even ran. Glad you got it going.

It read that with the diagnostic port jumped, but I was surprised too. There were a couple other things we un-tweaked though that I think helped it run with the timing out as much as it was.

Alright, so this last trip to Harrisonburg, I felt like the GX was chugging gas. going from richmond, st. Mary's Falls, then Buchees, was a total of 143 miles, and I ended up with around 1/4 of a tank (6 gallons left out of a 23-gallon tank). Running the numbers, that puts me around 17 gallons used and an MPG of around 9-ish. While I understand the mods affect MPG, I think that a stock getting 15 PMG and now getting 9.5 is a bit excessive. What should I look at to diagnose this?

Also, side note: when I fill up, it doesn't fill to a full tank but splits betwee n3/4 and full.

I'll add more details below

Are your new tires wider?

I'd see where your rpms are with the 4.88s, tire weight probably has effect too

When I am doing 70 MPH ( 65 on the spedo), my RPMs are around 2,500. The 35s (Kenda Klevers RT) are 71 LBS X 5; that's around 355LBS.

Now I do think that I could look at replacing the fuel pump, injector service kit, and fuel filter, but that all costs money, and I wonder if that is necessary.

I wouldn't worry about the Kenda's negatively, they are one of the lighter 35x12.50 why I stuck with them and just liking my first set.

2500 seems fairly high but I'm certainly not a gearing expert

You already have the 4.88s installed correct?

That does seem on the higher side for 80 but from memory I think I was above 2500 at 80 when I had mine so not way out of reality. Did you lift it any more or widen the stance? What were you getting MPG wise before? I was getting ~13 before mods and 11 after

Us Land Cruiser owners worry about smiles per mile, not MPG's! :)
I came here to say this. If you want MPGs get a tesla lol

Is this one of the first trips with 4.88's?

So do you know how many gallons you actually pumped? was it 17 or a guess? Need to take the milage 143 multiply it by 1.08 ( the spedo and mileage appear to be off by about 8%) and divide it by the gallons used. That should give you a more acurate mileage number.
