Absolutely agree!
Unless you're in a Toy club, then it's usually just Taco's and pickups.
Our club is mostly Jeeps but a strong minority of Tacos and 4runners. I am the only GX or KDSS rig.

Same in our club. Mostly Jeeps, with our club president having recently (last year) traded his Jeep for a Bronco. Other than that we have 2 Tacos, one of which is my wife's, but she doesn't go out in her truck too often. She prefers to drive with me, for no other reason than we really enjoy each others company. Yeah, I know that sounds all mushy, but we really are best friends (with benefits!).

Yea, we usually do better in separate vehicles talking over the radio. We are both Type A so it works out better.

I am planning on staring to upgrade the 4runner soon. Its going to need new front shocks, dampers, LCAs and maybe a few other things.

Got back from a trip to the Sedona area followed by a few days in Moab. Beautiful country of course.

Funny seeing a "two way" sign on a rock crawling trail!
Heh, well it used to be one-way. A few years back they reconfigured the exit route for Hells Revenge because the old one got all washed out.

Here is a little story that might be useful to someone else in the future.

Last week I was on a light wheeling trip in NE MN, and while on a forest two-track got a bunch of warning lights and a "Check BSM" message on the display. The GX also wouldn't go into low range, which hurt my wheeling prospects, so I came home early.

I suspected a wheel sensor based on prior experience, and pulled codes. There were 4 or 5 codes including BSM, KDSS, ABS etc, But most notably there was a code for the right rear wheel sensor. Ah ha!.

I put the GX on the lift and quickly found the problem - the rear sway bar had lost a bolt on the right axle mount and the end of the sway bar was loose and had been pounding on the wheel sensor wire, amongst other things. Kind of a DOH! moment.

So I ordered a new wiring harness. Best price I could find was $124 on line (was available locally for $207). The harness goes to both rear sensors and then up to a connector on the body, and comes with a bunch of brackets and clips in addition to 3 connectors. Today I replaced the harness, which took longer than I expected (as usual) but in the end the problem is fixed! Huzzah.

So, if you get this BSM warning (and several other warnings too) suspect a wheel sensor. Also, if you are a wheeler, check your bolts regularly underneath!

So where in the Arrowhead did you go? My second home for the month of October. Used to go to Lake County but in 2019 moved to Cook County, too many people in Lake anymore. And Cook is getting that way. So last 2 weeks of September usually find me in the Sunset Country of Ontario up around where the roads end and give way to float planes.

That wiring harness can be a pain from corrosion too, especially where they heavily salt the roads. The CCN has a video on it his wife's 2023 GX460 gave the Christmas tree dashboard and it turned out to be corroded connectors on the rear speed sensor wiring harness. You already solved it (good job!) but here is the video on troubleshooting the sensors and wiring

I was in the Grand Marais and Grand Portage area with the Tread Lightly Off Road Group (look them up on Facebook), doing a Memorial weekend trail ride with military veterans that ride along with us.

It is getting crowded up there, the trip back down the north shore I noticed every state park and restaurant lot was overflowing with cars.

Pretty sure there isn't a road or trail that I don't know in that area. Or Cook and Lake for that matter. I stop at the edge of the Rez though as I am usually carry a shotgun so avoid tribal land. Come back down the Gunflint to Grand Marais once a week or so when get tired of eating my own cooking.

I solo and if see more than one or two vehicles in a day find a different place. Well did at one time since Covid that ship done sailed. And sunk now everyone seems to have discovered the North woods. A couple of years ago I did work with a few others on the Border to Border trail through Cook County. The hippies in Grand Marais that escaped from the Cities fought it and in the end the Border to Border trail bypasses Cook County. So it really isn't a Border to Border trail. They shot down the Firebox so offered to re route through Shoe Lake Road which is more like a gravel highway but they had a hissy fit over even that. Eventually we gave up and it starts down in Lake County.

Typical road between the Gunflint and Arrowhead, there aren't many of them.

And of course all the spurs that are overgrown once you get down them a ways. Many times worth it though.

North end a mile from the Rez and East off from the Arrowhead Trail is Pigeon River helibase. Not much of a pad but in an emergency is used as one. Always worth a stop on the edge of Canada and the Rez to the East.

Took this picture there a couple of hours after trying to squeeze through some trees that were growing in on a trail and one of them jumped out and smacked me where the gas cap door is. Dent is still there.

Being retired Navy thanks for taking those Vets out.

Awesome. Scott B., the leader of the Tread Lightly Off Road recently retired from the Cook County highway department, so his knowledge of the roads and tracks there probably rivals yours. I'm guessing you know each other, he fought for the Border to Border trail in Cook County too.

For the Memorial weekend veterans run, he had tribal permission for the group to do some trails in the reservation, which was a rare treat.

Any chance you have a picture of what the harness looked like when you found it was corroded? I'm chasing similar issues on my GX and your truck's symptoms sound similar. Just hoping you have something I can use as a frame of reference.

My case was probably rather rare, as the sensor wire was frayed from getting pounded by the loose end of the sway bar, due to the missing bolt. I can show you the frayed spot along the wire, but it was just a "duh" diagnosis. That Car Care Nut video that Cold Iron posted above would be a better corrosion-related guide for you IMO.

Yeah I mean I wouldn't mind seeing a pic just in case I'm somehow blatantly missing something

But will check out the CCN vid as well. Thanks.

Super late on this, but - love seeing the MN plate in Moab! Well done.

Also great to read the discussion on the north woods. Superior National Forest is one of my favorite places on earth.
Gotta love the Northwoods. They are my favorite place.
