I thought I would post up a list of Military movies that are worth revisiting this weekend if the BBQ gets rained out. These are in no particular order of preference, and by all means, does not represent an inclusive list. Please feel free to add your own "picks"...Maybe a good venue to "debate" the all time top ten/twenty etc...

Hey guys,

Happy Memorial Day. Great thread--thanks to all for your service. I've been an active duty USAF PJ for nine years. Deployments really hampered my cruiser wrechin' time! You can usually find me lurking around trying to find a fix for something stupid I did to the truck. :bang:

The pics I attached are from the first day I owned it 7 years ago. I miss those days...when the truck was in one piece and got me places (like cross country twice when I barely knew how to change oil! Haha!). Even though it had no rear sill under those ugly as hell diamond plates (I didn't know sh*t when I was "inspecting" the truck), it was an animal. I truly believe that ignorance is bliss--once I learned what I was doing, nothing was ever good enough and the truck is rarely on the road these days.

I look forward to lifetime of adventuring with it, but first I have to put it all back together!!

Welcome Chris!! Thank you for your service!! Good lookin' 40 - get it back together and enjoy it!! Or, just enjoy puttin' it back together!!

Welcome aboard Chris...Good friend of mine is/was(?) a PJ...Due to deployments over the last couple of years I've lost track of him. Your "community" is small enough you may know him. Does "RJ" ring a bell? He as an Army 18A, then cut bait and went of to the AF a few years ago....He'll ring me up every couple of years just to catch up....

Nice 40..My "mule" has it's stern wrapped in a "wee bit" of DP too...Always liked the green....!:bounce:

added "Retreat, Hell!" (1952)

Knocked out "Stalingrad and Cross of Iron"...Classics!! Doing the time warp forward this Sunday evening with "The Hurt Locker" (2008) -

Yeah man, RJ is at a unit in Cocoa Beach

Small world/small community...He and I used to hangout in Morgantown WV (WVU) together...He is a "great dude"..

When you see him tell him "Jeff" said hello and to "break squelch a little more often"....

Thanks for "posten' up" on the "Highway"!!!!

add We were Soldiers (2002)... Great book too..!

We Were Soldiers Once and Young... was an excellent book!

As was the 'sequel' We Are Soldiers Still where Hal, Basil and Joe return to la Drang, with a group of the guys with whom they went through hell, and met up with some of their former enemy... a great read!

I thought the movie was well written, acted and directed!
