That Nissan is sweet. I love budget racing.

I hate exo cages... But that is f***ing awesome. I hope you don't end up with a bunch of minor vibrations between the body and the rails once things shift around. Maybe there is plenty of clearance. It's tough to tell in pictures.

Just finished reading this thread and all I can say is F#%$ING SWEET! A lot of things I've thought about doing and some I've done just for fun wish I would have seen this before I started!

I want to come race, but that would be a long way to drive my old beater....

"budget" racing is a misnomer ;)

I miss my old 11 car..

The Gambler 500 is a true non-sanctioned budget free for all, just run what you brung. If the group thinks you've stepped out price-wise then you can still race but your rear window gets blown out.

Got the fenders temped back on, welded up the A-pillar cage portion, wired winch and built a new support for the tranny cooler (which is in place of the passenger low beam) and mounted the LED bar headlights.

Cage progress, still lots of triangulation and gusseting to be done. Mocked up the boat pod tower speaker I want to run in the back. You can see daylight through my fender as I'm still doing a little tubbing.

Gonna be lots more bracing up here.

Capped my rear quarters with 2x6 .120 wall. I always wanted to try welding sliders directly to the body so here it is. The metal was already hammered so nothing lost there. Love the departure angle, SUA on 37s.

BUT WHAT IS THAT GOING TO DO TO THE RESALE VALUE?!?!?!

"Resale" lol, that's my secret I keep it s***ty so I never have to sell it. Ain't worth nothin...

Picked up a 4.3 Vortec/T5 combo to drop in grandpa's Datsun (been in family for 36 years, had a Chevy v6 in it previously but got stolen from my uncle and stripped). Gonna make it my rally rig for next year, replaced flatbed today with a well used standard bed.

My god that is a s*** pot of wheel weights..

I know, I shoulda just thrown in some beads but tire guy went wild.

Re-reading though the thread, have you wheeled your new setup yet? I say new, I mean 37's, 4.88's... Etc

Mild trail stuff here and there, all my seams weren't welded yet so I didn't want to taco it. My buddy just stuck his Pinz in another buddy's back 40 and apparently requires my assistance, so it'll get a workout in the next couple days.

I think I saw that movie while drunk once..

Good luck with the Rally and that Datsun is cool as hell.. What vintage 4.3 did you get?

1996 2wd S10 with 150k on the clock. Gonna do a refresh and slap it in "Ratsun" style.
