Yeah...and I'm wondering why now it was such a good deal. Probably tack on another $300-500 for a panel.Coldfront is certainly stingy with any information about what is included. The website has almost no information at all.
Hey did your kit come with a control panel? Got the Evo just now from coldfront with only an on/off Rocker.Mine was a complete kit. The harness was a mile long. Needed cut but that’s not a big deal.
In -20 the truck starts like a summers day. I do run a thinner diesel oil for winter as well. 5/40…
I'm waiting to hear from coldfront then I'll decide on my path forward. I won't be installing till the weather warms. My rebuilt Webasto came with a remote fob and receiver unit, can be wired in place of a rocker switch. Similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/dstfuy-Wirel...v+remote+control+switch&qid=1709697752&sr=8-5
Ahhhh.....makes sense now...thx. I guess i'll have to dole out for a smart controller.Mine came with just a toggle, the timer was extra 250.00. The cheapness was strong that day..
Does not. I only have a toggle switch.Maybe the new EVO has a remote starter but back in the old days of TSL-17 it was toggle or timer.
Timer was $450 when I got mine. Toggle it is.
I bought a cheap remote relay to monkey around with, but I haven't had time. Plus I think I'd miss bitching about having to go outside at 530 in the freezing rain in PJs to turn it on.
The last time I looked, even their fancy remote system was only available on 12v...and it wasn't cheap. May have also required a sim card and annual subscription which is all a bit much.
It's kindof amazing to me they don't offer a simple remote control fob.
For me the webasto is number one importance. December to Feb in calgary has some brutal temps. It's not my daily anyway so remote start is down the line. I do like the idea of the Bluetooth smart controller. At first I really didn’t think I needed one. They come pre wired so it’s an easy add on. The entire install is pretty simple. I deleted my rear heater at the same time because it was in bad shape. I think a remote start would be more beneficial than a timer. Unless you have a very rigid set schedule. I do not, so I chose walk outside in my pj’s in at 530am and -20 to start the damn thing. @seapotato might be able to chime in on the remote webasto. I think he also subscribed to early morning pj trip as well as the cheapness.
So would placement of the receiver be important? I'd probably be lying in a sleeping bag up on the roofI bought one of these, but haven't tried to make it work yet.
I figured worst case I can use it for my dust collector in the shop.

All good questionsSo would placement of the receiver be important? I'd probably be lying in a sleeping bag up on the roof
90% of the time I'd use it. But I question the sensitivity of the receiver I guess trial and error. Firewall under
the hood. That looks like a spiral antenna? Could it be extended? That one is one of many on amazon.
So imagine a scenario, where you turn it on with your remote fob from inside your house, then jump in the truck and get 10km down the road and discover there's no remote in the truck...switch on the dash is already offIt might just be me. But that one you posted has 'ON' and 'OFF'
Not much easier than that? Where's Nick when you need him? @GTSSportCoupe
