My old Prestolite motor on the 8274 gave out recently so I was looking for a replacement today.
Here’s what I found:

I reached out to WMS (Western Motor Service Company) today and here was their reply:
“The Warn 8274 motor should be our W-8941.
The diameter of the shaft is 0.669 inches or 17mm. Let me know if the shaft on your old motor is a different diameter. The W-8941D motor is $184.75 plus shipping cost.
We also make a 4.8 HP version of the W-8941D motor. The W-7641 is longer and has longer field coils and armature core. The cost is $249.25 plus shipping cost. The W-8941 has a 6 inch long body. W-7641 motor body is seven inches.
If you want to upgrade the pinion gear then you can get a 20 spline.

We have three 20 spline, 12 volt motors.
W-8923D is rated for 2.5 HP at 2500 RPMs
W-7623 rated for 4.8 HP at 2500 RPMs
W-7608 rated for 6 HP at 1850 RPMs.
W-8923D $179.55
W-7623 $198.75
W-7608 $248.35”
Plus you’ll need the:

or

And finally you’ll need the extended motor bolts for the larger motor.

I don’t know if there’s an option stateside but shipping was almost 3X the cost of the mounting bolts. As of 8-22-24.
I called and spoke with Rick @WMS. He used to have a ‘70’s FJ-40 that he sold in HI. He’s a extremely knowledgeable guy to talk to. Their motors are assembled in house. They have a 1 year warranty. They do not warranty motors that have been misused, burned up, abused, etc.
Has anyone used the WMS W-7608 rated for 6 HP at 1850 RPMs? Which appears to be comparable to popular upgrade on the 8274 with the Warn 9.5XP 6HP motor.
