The LX list is not that long but I have 87 deposits for the new GX and will probably be north of 200 when the first GX arrives.

Who wants to wait years for a LX at this point? I am not surprised the wait list isn't long at this point for a design that is no longer new at what it costs. Used examples are already on the market too but they are not cheap either.

first post here and current gx460 owner x 2.
always been a dream of mine to get LX and will in next few years.
i see lots of lx in inventory at some dealers around here.
i think with rising rates and new GX550 coming out this has curtailed demand for LX.
i think people are overhyping the GX and expecting it to be like the LX but its not the same.
LX is better looking still to me than new GX550 but to each their own.

This is what I am seeing too. Multiple dealers with at least 1-2 inventory. Maybe these aren’t the most desirable vehicles? Most of them are luxury trims. I also am questioning what seperates LX from GX anymore. Is the LX still built for 25 years in a third world country? Hard to believe that two vehicles from the same company that have nearly identical drivetrains and frames would be that much different.

The LX’s competitor is the full size Range Rover, and that’s about it. It’s an ultra expensive, ultra luxurious specimen. If you want the flagship vehicle from Lexus, it’s the LX.

The GX is going to obviously be a step down, but the GX has always been solid. It is going to have an “off road” version as well, so Lexus is going to make a whole bunch of these.

I just bought a gently-used LX 600 and I couldn’t be happier. Everything about the vehicle is superb.

My wife wants a GX as she’d like something a bit smaller. We will wait until the initial mad dash fades and buy one at MSRP or perhaps a bit less.

Regarding inventory you are correct, we currently have a Black /Palomino Luxury and a Nori Green /Peppercorn Luxury available. The Nori was a Lexus corporate demo with 6600 miles on it. We are finally catching up on our deposits and it’s not because the rates are high or people are waiting for the GX. The price point of a $105k plus is the reason the GX will always out sell the LX.
Your statement about the vehicles being similar, and It’s hard to believe that they would be that much different. Have you driven both of these cars? They are very different.
I recently help a Mud member surprise his wife with a new LX. He was not having any luck in Texas locating a premium magnesium luster LX. I had a premium in stock that I traded with another dealer for magnesium luster, and shipped the car to Texas.

Starting to work on the LX600 parts and all you have to do is spend 30 minutes under one and look at the attention to details of this vs. a GX or any other model. We have a new Tundra that has "essentially" the same platform / engine etc, and I can assure you the LX600 has a lot more attention to the smallest items vs. the Tundra. I expect that to be the same for the GX as well.

I bought a Nori with black. It is sensational, inside and out.

Correct. I went with a buddy to test drive a Sequoia. The salesman didn't know I had a LX 600, and while we were driving , he said "This is essentially the same vehicle as the Lexus LX just with a different badge and way cheaper." Now, the Sequoia is in fact plenty nice, but it is not a LX 600.

Hey Christo, do you have a few examples of these small details for us? Thanks in advance!

The base model is pretty scarce, no?
As rare as hen’s teeth…I am holding out a while longer.

From what I can see, about 1 in 100. I like the concept of the base. However, it doesn’t appear to be a “real” model here in the States. I have an LX 570, and really like the hydraulic suspension. since you have to bypass the Premium to the Luxury to get it, I’m not sure I want to do that. I’ll reevaluate later this spring if I still can’t get a base model.

Interesting. So what suspension do the LX 600s have that isn't hydraulic? I've got a 2022 Luxury - is it not hydraulic?

I've got a base model and love it. $89,400 a year ago. Next step up is an extra $15,000 for ventilated seats up front, a steering wheel heater, rear seat warmers, and a third row that is vestigial. Didn't seem worth it, and still doesn't.

And the non-AHC suspension is a rather routine IFS front with coilovers, dual control arms, and a sway bar. The rear is solid axle/springs/shocks, control arms. Very simply, very easy to modify and fix. And of course rides great.

The standard suspension on the base model is straight steel springs and shocks, running on 20‘s instead of 22’s. The Premium, F Sport and Luxury have standard adaptive suspension, I.e. variable shock settings, comfort, sport, etc. Only the F Sport and Luxury can be ordered with the Active Height Control (aka Hydraulic Suspension). I don’t think a single Luxury is built without the AHC. It was standard on the LX 570. Now you have to spend almost 20k more to get it…especially since Lexus adds a decent amount of port installed options, appearance package, etc.

Docyota’s reports convinced me I can live without AHC. Also, we wouldn’t miss the ventilated seats. They are so so on my LX, far better in my 2500 pickup! That is why I was looking for a base model. It has the excellent 4WD that for my wife, is perfect. I plan on keeping my LX 570, so we’d have both suspensions. Let the truth be told, other than ski trips and the like, our LX’s never see the level of difficulty they are capable of negotiating. I buy them for the very high build quality and longevity.

If anyone finds a base model with Palomino…anywhere in the lower 48, I’d buy it!
