Did not know that Vic had anything to do with the XR311 project.
Here are some photos of the one we owned:

Steve did you get the .50 cal. or the 106mm with that model?:)

Thanks for that post :D..... is this yours?

This is similar in function, size and rating to current Warn mod. 61560 and ARB mod. 7000 pulleys that both sell for around $80, but they don't include the removable hook.

1. 19,000-pound pulling capacity
2. Designed for winches with up to 9,500 pound capacity
3. Alloy steel swivel hook with quick-pull pin enables easy cable loading.
4. For use with cable up to 7/16 in. diameter.
5. 1/4 in. alloy steel side plates that sit snugly against pulley - winch cable does not become trapped.
6. Length (in.)=9 1/2 body, 12 1/2 with hook, Width=5 1/2, Wt. = 10 lbs.

Cool Stuff Johnny! Takes me back!

I was just telling Land Cruiser Junky LAST SATURDAY about my Hickey Blazer I had back in the late 80s. Custom low profile fiberglass hood, custom moulded fiberglass roof rack. custom full-time 4wd driveplate slugs, front cage etc.

When I got my first K-5 in 80, I picked up a generic 4wd book that had the trademark Hickey cutaway sections of the Blazer, Bronco, Ramcharger, jeep scout and Landcruiser in the back of the book. That was my introduction to 4wd porn! And of course it had the infamous cover shot of the Hickey K-5 hanging from a tree by the Sidewinder.

Now I've got to go look for that book again.

Here are some photos when we ran the Baja Boot 2 years ago at the Las Vegas Mint 400 pre run, It was a blast getting the boot out in the dirt again

Wow...never heard about that one. Funny as the '70, 442 is probably the only muscle car I would restore...nearly picked one up before the '64 FJ40, but I figured I'd have more fun with the cruiser.

Now if I can only find one like this :hillbilly:

Are these pictures I found on-line good?

You need a few more posts before you can add more pics...that or you need to buy a start.

Hello Ron thanks for showing up :)

If you want to send me some pics i can post them up for ya :)

do you have any pics of 000001 ?

Yes thats my car, it looks like the photos i sent for the story in Hemmings, they made the blue a little brighter, and a have the 00001 blazer and will send old and new photos, Thanks for your interest

I knew both Vic and Bill Stroppe. They raced against each other on the dry lakes in the '30s (Chevy vs. Ford) and worked together at the seaplane base in Long Beach during World War II. The last communication I had from Vic included pictures of his Tag-Along Trailers, and he was located near Advance Adapters in Paso Robles at that time. I have some other pictures he sent me if anyone would like them.

I also rode in the Four Wheeler Toyota in a Mint 400 and a couple of Baja races while I was tech editor. Does anyone know what has happened to Bill Sanders?

Tonto

Thanks for posting Tonto...

I would love to see some pics :)

I havent really researched into Bill Sanders...just really Vic because of the connection to Hickey enterprises and their connection to the land cruiser community.

maybe Ron aka hickeyracing knows?

Photos

I would love to see any of the photos you have, i have a large collection of Hickey photos, I just finished the restoration of the Vic Hickey James Garner 1970 Olds 442

I went to look at an 80 series that was for sale and the guy had a Hickey Edition Chevy Blazer. It had a Hickey brush guard with a sidewinder winch, special rear tire carrier, special hubs, internal cage and a Hickey steering wheel. It was orange with white accents.

I decided to do a search today on Vic Hickey. I find it more that a little strange that I'm doing it in the anniversary of his death June 13, 2010. (Vic passed a way in 2003 on the same date) All par for the course for the way things have been going.

I don't know why but I have been plagued by coincidences and parallels to Vic for some time now. So much so that they have lead me on this, now three hour web search today.

Thanks to your site I have an address on Callens in Ventura to go see what stands there presently.

I find yet another interesting piece of the past with Vic wearing a Hurst Olds jacket in one of the photos in this thread. I own a few of those cars. Very strange!

Does anyone know who has the other Baja Boot? And where it is?

It isn't really important. I'd just like to know.

So I'll go visit the address in hope that what ever is supposed to happen will happen and I'll get it over with....It's kind of getting annoying to tell you the truth.

Thanks again for taking the time in posting and for the other information.
