Posted the following in another area - thought it might get more traction here:

Thinking about getting the Viair 450P-Automatic Portable Air Compressor Kit from 4 Wheel Parts. It's on sale this weekend.

Here are the reviews of it on Amazon.

I searched Mud, but didn't find any threads mentioning this particular unit.

To set this thread up right, I've read almost every thread on here about OBA, portable air compressors, etc.

Just looking for expert/hands-on advice/opinions on pros/cons of portable vs. OBA and on this particular unit. Primary use will be airing up tires, air mattreses, and miscellaneous.

Below are the features and specs. from Viair.

Features:
- Vibration-Resistant Diamond-Plate Sand Tray
- Deluxe Dual Compartment Carry Bag
- 25 ft. Quick Connect Extension Hose with Heat Shield
- Gas Station-Style Tire Gun with 200 PSI Gauge
- 3-pc. Inflation Tips Kit
- Dual Battery Clamps with 40-amp Inline Fuse Holder
- Power Cord: 8 ft. / Air Hose: 25 ft.

Specs:
12-Volt
Permanent Magnetic Motor
Duty Cycle: 100% @ 100 PSI
Max. Working Pressure: 150 PSI
Max. Amp Draw: 19 Amps

Thanks!

Thanks for the link Dan. Nice price.

Wish I had skillz like the guy who put this together:

Sanden OBAv2

It will be available as a bolt on kit if there is enough interest ;) But to be fair most don't need the 8.5cfm output of my new OBAv2. But impatience does often create the "need". :D

I've had my VIAR portable for 5 yrs. I got it because at the time I had two trucks and liked the portability so I didn't need to get two OBA units installed. Still use mine everytime out and have had no issues at all.

Not as fast as a good OBA unit, but has never cycled out. Takes a couple of minutes per tire to fill up from 20 to 40 psi on my 295's.

I'd get another one but doubt I'll need to for a long time. Still works like new.

I have one and have really like it but the one issue I have had with it has been the pressure gauge. It was very inaccurate. I'll use it to fill but use a separate gauge for the pressure checks.

how does the flow compare to the new twin ARB?

The flow based on the published specs of both looks to be about 65% less CFM for the 450C/P: 6.16cfm for the ARB compared to 1.66cfm for the Viair. CFM @ 0psi.

The Viair is very believable...I'd like to see the ARB # verified...I have a hard time believing they're getting 6+cfm from 28amp input.

Isn't the ARB Twin 48 Amps?

I was comparing no load speeds to no load speeds. Yes under load the new CKMTA12 draws 50amps per ARB's tech specs.

For comparison the Extreme Outback ExtremeAir electric compressor draws 95amps at 12.5volts (not sure if this is load or no load current draw) and puts out 6cfm at 0psi (2.6cfm at 100psi).

Anyone here have experience with the ARB dual compressor portable kit?

CKMTP12

While it ain't cheap, it looks like it might be a slightly more powerful alternative... Just trying to get a sense for the options out there.
