Are the small vacuum hoses on the 22RE 3.0 or 3.5mm ID? After searching the subject I find both sizes mentioned as "the" size. I was going to order some 3.5, 6.0 and 10.0 silcone to do my engine but ran into a few posts that referenced 3.0 instead of 3.5.

I ran silicone vacuum lines throughout on my '88 22RE last year & when the 10mm lines got warm the vacuum sucked them shut. I never had any trouble out of the smaller lines, but I changed them back to OE anyway because I didn't trust them.

All silicone isn't created equal! Actually, I should probably say that all silicone hoses aren't created equal. You have to get the extra heavy wall ones, especially in the larger sizes.

What's the benefit of the silicone over rubber?

Just looks better (but that's just my opinion). I'm sure a case can be made that it's better in some way but I was just going for the gloss black look and plain rubber doesn't come that way.
