hey all i'm about finished building my 350 vortec for my piggy and i'm down to the last few items most notably the water pump.

i'm curious are there going to be many clearance issues that would require me to go with a short pump as opposed to a long pump. there seem to be alot more bracketing options for the long pump (i have power steering ) which is only a bit longer than the short. i'm just wondering which pumps you all went with and why.

here are a few pictures of my progress. please dont knock the green block too badly i wanted something different.

i hope you like my work.

Bill,

I'm of no help with the water pump, but I'm with you on the green and really love the skulls! I was thinking, it would be cool to have one of the skull's eyes light up, scare the bejeebees out of someone. :)

On another note, I ordered my Speedhut gauges thanks to you. Haven't received them yet, though.

Good Job!

i really like my gauges they installed easy and work flawlessly ( the fuel one was a bit of a pain to get right ) hopefully then send you a tshirt like the did for me. :)

On the small block I just pulled from my Pig it had a short water pump and clearance looked about like Npulver’s picture. Might be tough to fit a long style pump.

Like the green!!

Have had both short and long pumps in my Pig. Went to the shorter one (IIRC the difference is about 3 inches) to provide half the room for adding a Ranger overdrive (7 1/2 inches), otherwise my shifter would have been back between the seats. Get a higher volume truck pump whichever length you choose...it'll move coolant through the system at higher volume. Shorter pump allows more options for engine placement vis a vis the firewall. LMC Trucks online is a good source for inexpensive brackets and pulleys.

I had the exact same thoughts!
