Next step is to pull the harness from the engine. The 3UZ oem ECU is reportedly more durable than the 1UZ in terms of hardware. I reached out to @LexusV8 Engines in order to have the immobilizer flashed and also to have connectors replaced. Tim at LexusV8 also pumped up the power a bit! The ECU was also flashed for a manual application 🥃 Trying to fit everything in the engine bay so here's my punch list before tearing it down one more time

1. Adjust oil dipstick line to clear motor mount
2. Measure and mount airbox (looking at 100 series cyclonic)
3. Mount power steering cooler and reservoir
4. Mount oil cooler and catch can
5. Mount intercooler
6. Mount Vintage Air condenser unit and bulkhead to interior
7. Mount radiator in final position
8. Mock up location for ECU box

Hello,

Now this is an interesting project. When it comes to our Cruiser projects, most of us are under a budget, and limited to available resources.

Light Duty 77 Series' engine bays are good for V6/V8 engines. Provided that fabrication issues are properly addressed, there is enough space in there.

It is a good thing that your new engine's ECU works with a manual transmission. This is a common setback in engine swaps. There is space in your instrument panel for the Check Engine light.

Regarding your transmission, I guess your choice has to do with both price and availability. Make sure it aligns with your transfer case and your drive shafts.

The OEM front bumper may not look attractive. However, it complies with pedestrian safety requirements, and it is strong enough to deflect impact forces in case of a collision.

Keep up the good work.

Working on the intercooler mount and trying to make it a combo mount to have the ps and engine oil cooler all on the same mount. Teal part hatched out is not part of the mount. It is just to prop up the Z brackets. The 1/4” Z brackets with a 3” rise were $14 a piece from AutoFab.com and the tubing is just some extra I had laying around, just hoping that the condenser arrives soon so I can button up the front end accessories.

Need to add rubber isolators but you get the idea. I will create something to hold the top to keep it from overturning.

Part number reference for fuel system components. Assuming your injector seals and injectors are good…these parts would complete the system minus the lines and how you tie into your stock tank. I am welding two 6 AN bungs to my OEM tank or running the LRA tank and TIG welding 6 AN bungs to that.

Love this build. Sent you a PM.

Heads up, you'll want to pass over that walbro pump. Been there, trashed the t-shirt. Grab one of the Denso gerotor pumps. The gev4 v8 4runner pump is affordable and durable.

X2 100%. From experience multiple times.

Without question, everything else is a distant second to a quality in-tank pump. There's a reason not a single OE installation isn't in a fuel bath.

Definitely lots to think about! My goal is to create something thats easily repairable/serviceable without the so called JDM wait for cruiser parts😂

Hello,

Your 77 Series is LHD, which is an advantage because there are no JDM-specific parts.

Your drivetrain choice will make it easier to source parts in your neck of the woods. And you can always use a little more power from a V6/V8 engine with a proper ECU/transmission setup.

Took a break from the 3UZ swap on my truck to do a 3UZ swap on my son’s FJ40! Trimmed the bezel to make it look more “real”. Added some retrofitted headlights too😂

It is a Peg Perego Gaucho (looks like an FJ40) that is now discontinued. Scored it on marketplace for $60

any s300 chassis turbo will be fine
Will research!!!

The turbo on this build will happen later (if at all). I just wanted the peace of mind of knowing I could make the piping and all that other stuff fit!

Good news is that the intercooler does fit! Got the bracket tacked earlier and I removed it again for use later. For now oil coolers for engine and powersteering will occupy the space behind the grille :)

Great build and documentation. What is the plan for the fuse box? Was that something that got tweaked/updated/checked when you go the engine wiring harness and flash done on the ECU or is that something separate you'll need to handle?

Hey man,

I went ahead and sent my harness to LexusV8 over in florida! They took care of my harness to convert it to a stand alone and have its on fusebox!

Alternatively I could have used Spitronics but I like having OEM stuff
