As I am beginning to see there are quite a few non-Toyota vehicles looking to attend the event...there is not a problem with this (as many will convert to toyota owners after the event :D :D ) but I want make it clear that as this is an organized event of two Toyota Clubs (Olde North State Cruisers and Upstate Cruisers) therefore the individuals involved in these clubs and those driving Toyota's will take precedent of those tagging along for the ride in other vehicles. We will also organize a ride so that all can attend and those less capable rigs can travel the less moderate trails while those more capable rigs will travel the more moderate trails. We have to keep in mind a few things though:

All vehicles in attendance must have the following:
1) Tow Strap
2) Fire Extinguisher
3) Hi-Lift jack or factory jack
4) Two Way Radio
5) Spare Tire (air'd up...it's worth checking)
6) Basic Tools
7) Appropriate Tires for the Terrain

Also if you are intending on camping at the Badin Lake Group camp and are not an Upstate Cruiser member, ONSC will be taking donations for those who plan to camp. Upstate has paid their portion ($49) so those who have paid their dues to Upstate should be covered there. Others who plan to camp and donate, anything over the remaining amount ($49) of the site will be used in the supper provided one of the two nights. Donations can be sent via paypal to oldenorthstate@hotmail.com

If you have any questions don't hesitate to PM.

Thanks
Greg

Is a spare tire required for all of the ONSC rides? Some of us don't have space for a spare, but do carry plugs kits and/or inner tubes.

RK - Are you planning on coming to URE? If so, you going to do everything out there in reverse 2wd so you won't get bored?

Anyone have an extra fire extinguisher?

I won't be able to make it for this trip due to my rig being down for modifications, I was asking for future rides. I do have a spare tire, but I leave it in my truck since it won't fit on my Cruiser. I carry a plug kit with me on the trails.

Just a quick heads up for the ride organizers, from what I understand portions of Falls Dam are closed at the moment as they have begun the construction of the new ATV campground.

So I am not sure where the trail closes exactly or if you can do portions and turn around, the campground itself will be in the area of the big mudhole / gated entrance area is my understanding. There is also a bit of new trail getting worked on in the area as well, bypass type stuff.

Dickey Bell is a good alternative, in fact the first drop down/creek crossing there at the end of it / Falls Dam is a great place for folks to start, enjoy and looks worse than it turns out to be. Excellent place for pictures, etc.

I am hoping to be there in my 'new to me' 94LC with the MTRs I picked up yesterday off a MUD member!

Sam

Alright, so we can organize...

Who is going to be around Friday night and who is going to be around Saturday night?

Please PM me which day or just state both so we can get a head count?

Thanks

I'd like to make this trip, but I am lacking a spare tire. The rest of that stuff I could get...are plug kits expensive?

and on the note of non-toyo vehicles...got room for a nissan?

Also, will I be alright in my pretty much stock 62?

I've been out to the badin lake area before but that was a while back and i dont know the area very well. Coming from sanford, would anyone be interested/able to meet up in troy or something? havent decided if i would wanna camp out there or not. probably so, just depends.

You can get a plug kit at any local auto parts store also Wal-Mart I believe sells them.

Please see my original post #79 for details on other vehicles.

You will be okay in a stock 62, however for this trip it will limit the trails you will be able to run without holding up others.

Also, will I be alright in my pretty much stock 62?

should be ok on most trails...daniel and Kodak being the exception.

Greg, we might want to consider two groups with one taking the tougher sections and the other taking the less challenging of routes. I am still planning on making the day trip on Saturday and could help on the lighter trails if needed. I am just looking to have a little fun this time out.

That is the plan Eric, thats why I am trying to get a feeler of who is coming and when. Volunteers are always welcome, one thing I want to make sure is that we have a winch with each group.....you never know....

Because I will be there all weekend I have no problem taking a group on the less challenging trails one day as well.

I'm fine with guiding a few groups if need be. I'd like to roll with those that are ok with being in the " scratches " group. (as the Land Rover guys call them.. lol)

FWIW I've seen a stock 62 go all over Uhwarrie with the aid of a good spotter and a patient driver. The only hard part would be the ledge on Daniel.

The rest of Daniel and Rocky Mount have bypasses.

You should always use protection, and it's good you realize that at an early age :)

Im still planning on being there, probably just the lighter stuff as well.

To LakeNorman_FJ40, BZEP, Cruiser4life and anyone else interested, does anyone have a good meeting point for a Saturday morning convoy?

If I was 100% sure that my truck would be ready I would suggest meeting at the corner of 24/27 and 601, but thats just my opinion. Got a call yesterday from my mechanic saying that the exhaust manifold needs to be machined and thinks he will have it all ready to go by the end of next week, but it makes me nervous. Hopefully I will be able to make it. I might just drive the ford up to hang out even if it isnt ready. Maybe I can duct tape a picture of it to my back to prove the toyota really does exist. :)

If it is ready I would be on the "mild" team. Scratches don't bother me, but this would be my first URE trip and also the first time I am taking this particular 40 off road. Oh and also I would only be a saturday " day tripper"

Sounds good to me. Anyone up for meeting at 6:30am or 7:00am?
