We hope to be on the trails between 9:00-9:30...but we often know there's a few stragglers everytime. We could consider an early group and a mid morning group as well.

How many Saturday day trippers are coming from the Charlotte area? Any interest in an early morning convoy?

Yes, I'd be interested in the convoy from Charlotte.

Since this is my first ONSC event, is it a kid-friendly event? I usually bring my 8 year old son camping and trail-riding, but if this is more of a guys weekend out and/or if he will be the only kid there...

As of right now I would be interested in a Saturday morning convoy as well. I will be driving the 40 so I wont be breaking any speed records, you wont hurt my feelings if you get tired of waiting on me.

I'll be there with a trailer of fire wood:)

For those interested in the Charlotte Saturday convoy, would Speedway Blvd. (Exit 49) on I-85 be a good meeting place? I'm not sure where everybody lives so I'm open to suggestions. There's a Chick-Fil-A there where we could meet and get some breakfast. If those guys camping at Uwharrie are hitting the trails at 9:00am on Saturday, we'd have to meet by the latest at 7:30. I would suggest an earlier time to account for refueling our rigs and ourselves. Plus, the earlier we can get there, the more time we have to meet and greet. Is anyone opposed to 6 or 6:30?

Were you planing to take 49 all the way out to 109 or 24/27 out to 109?? I have only been out that way a couple times and I am coming from South Charlotte I have always gone the 24/27 route. I am not opposed to an early morning start. Let me know what everyone thinks.

I live on the Northeast side so I've always taken 85 to exit 58, then weaved my way to 49 and took that all the way to 109. If anyone knows of a faster way, let me know.

Charlotte Convoy

I had planned on making this ride and would join a convoy from Charlotte if it made sense (departure day / time, route, etc.)...

I too take 24/27 to Uwharrie based on where I live but we could convene on the way as well.

Whatever works best, see you there!!

Daniel is slick now...dusty slick. Here's how things went for me tonight....maybe if I had something with more lateral traction than Boggers this wouldn't have happened. Barely kissed the front door, then backed away and hit the ledge a littler harder, began to spin and before I could smash the brakes I had slammed into the rear door. Just need to take off the inside panel and pop it out and things should be fine. It's hard to open from the outside, but I think the door handle is out of alignment and hopefully wont be an issue after I pop the panel back out.

Your 8-yr old boy is very welcome!

The people in ONSC like to have a good time, but all of the folks I've met are very mature. Combined with the nat'l forest guidelines and rules, I suspect we'll all have a beverage or two, but in a responsible way. Children have participated in the rides I've been to and I suspect this will be no different.

I'm not familiar with the 24/27 route, so those who are, please let us know a good meeting point for the Charlotte convoy. I think we should meet at 6:30 to make it there at a decent time. What do you think?

I'll be caravaning with two 4Runner's on their maiden voyages and a nasty (nicely done) Cherokee if that's cool with you guys.

Oh... and I'm bringing my junk too!

You must be friends with Rob and Josh? Very cool that you're all coming!

I've seen your 80 at our bldg on Centennial, that is one bad-@$$ Cruiser.

Yup! That's my rig in the avatar. I'm partly responsible for Rob's new addiction. We'll be lifting his Runner this weekend and then I'll be teaching them basic wheeling principals and techniques.

As I am beginning to see there are quite a few non-Toyota vehicles looking to attend the event...there is not a problem with this (as many will convert to toyota owners after the event :D :D ) but I want make it clear that as this is an organized event of two Toyota Clubs (Olde North State Cruisers and Upstate Cruisers) therefore the individuals involved in these clubs and those driving Toyota's will take precedent of those tagging along for the ride in other vehicles. We will also organize a ride so that all can attend and those less capable rigs can travel the less moderate trails while those more capable rigs will travel the more moderate trails. We have to keep in mind a few things though:

All vehicles in attendance must have the following:
1) Tow Strap
2) Fire Extinguisher
3) Hi-Lift jack or factory jack
4) Two Way Radio
5) Spare Tire (air'd up...it's worth checking)
6) Basic Tools
7) Appropriate Tires for the Terrain

Also if you are intending on camping at the Badin Lake Group camp and are not an Upstate Cruiser member, ONSC will be taking donations for those who plan to camp. Upstate has paid their portion ($49) so those who have paid their dues to Upstate should be covered there. Others who plan to camp and donate, anything over the remaining amount ($49) of the site will be used in the supper provided one of the two nights. Donations can be sent via paypal to oldenorthstate@hotmail.com

If you have any questions don't hesitate to PM.

Thanks
Greg
