Success  The jack handle from my Banner floor jack and a club hammer powered by frustration and a small amount of rage finally drove the FIPG to capitulation. Next step is to raise the engine so I can physically remove it but that is step 7. Currently on step 6.:beer:

RAGE, yup that's the ticket :)

I'm curious where your leak is originating from. Do tell us when you find out!

It's not that bad to do drop the oil pans while the engine is in the truck.

It helps if the FIPG is 20+ years old. Mine was about 15 months old so no deterioration in its gripping capabilities.

The leak was definitely coming from the rear arch area but all the FIPG was still very much attached to upper oil pan, On the block, the FIPG was still well attached to the arch with the single exception of a small 1cm patch at the lowest point in the arch. Even though I drained the oil on Friday and have had the pans off since last night, there has been a steady trace of oil appearing in this spot. It takes about 1 hour for a drip to form. My hypothesis is that when I installed the pans last time a drip of oil formed between the time I cleaned everything with acetone and getting the FIPG squeezed on to the pan surface. I plan on reinstalling the pan tomorrow but I will be watching this area like a hawk.

Sadly mine was about 15 months old as well but poorly done by someone else. My upper oil pan was leaking in several spots.
