Upgraded Headlight Bulbs Comparo

I often wonder if the HIR bulbs I bought years ago were in fact HIR as I was greatly underwhelmed with them...
It seems to me (I dont know for sure) that there was a change in the bulbs in that packaging at some point... SKU's were the same but the bulb changed.
I hope that Philips referenced are HIR, as my HIR bulbs wont last forever.
Bulbs shipping today putting my Prime free 2-day air at Friday delivery, will update soon as the package hits the door...
@RobRed is there anything wrong with ordering this kit from candlepower if you want to swap to HIRs? Seems like a good deal to me... and none of the amazon confusion.. Also @Anthony.L, in the post where you said you made your order on the previous page, those links were the same for me, both to a 2011 bulb. Am I missing something here?
When you get to the link, use the drop down box next to the image to select the 9011 or 9012 model. Same page for both, different drop down options.
That combo you linked to on the Candlepower website is what I almost ordered before I found the thread here on MUD about the Philips bulbs on Amazon. If the bulbs that arrive on Friday are not in fact HIR, they will go back and I will order from Candlepower. Amazon's return policy is second to none, so the only risk/loss is time.

Also gotcha. Not relevant to the thread, but I'm somewhat intrigued by the metrictlc LED headlights...
Well it seems Amazon upgraded my free Prime 2-day shipping to Overnight shipping on the bulbs order. They are on the truck for delivery right now, will post soon as I get them.
Guess that is a nice perk from just about finishing a home remodel and buying everything possible through Amazon. Saved my ass to on a couple items with their return policy.

What sort of life are others getting out of their Philips HIR1s? I only got about 9 months before both failed - and that's with very little high beam driving, maybe the DRL 1/2 voltage promotes reduced life? These bulbs were purchased through candlepower so I'm assuming they weren't cheap knock offs. I'll give the vision plus' a try next and see how long they last.

Verdict has arrived....THEY ARE BOTH HIR BULBS! "HIR1" and "HIR2" marked and "Made in Germany".
Total from Amazon for four bulbs was $85. Compare that to Candlepower and it saves $15.
@RobRed, sorry to say but next time maybe a little less brash and a little more open minded. I know you are knowledgable in LC's, but I'm also FAR from a newbie and my Google-Fu is strong my friend.

Sorry for the horrible macro photography. I'm too lazy to pull out and setup the Canon 1D, so you get my s***ty iPhone 5 camera. The HIR2 bulb writing on the right is super hard to read but I promise you it says "HIR2" in the same spot the bulb on there left says "HIR1".

I received the Philips VisionPlus H1 lights today for my low beams. It's definitely a whiter light, not sure about intensity. I don't think they shine another 50' down the road as advertised.... Which seems proper, as I am still using the same OEM headlight assembly. I'm going to try aiming the lights up a hair and I bet that will work for me.
My spare set of Osram Nightbreaker Unlimiteds still available. They shine WAY farther down the road. Two pairs of HB4's, one pair HB3's. Fogs, highs and lows. New in packaging. I'll beat whatever the best price is you can find out there. I'll ship or if you're in Seattle......
While on subject and some of you may already be painfully aware of this issue...but a recent $$ learn for me: There is a vent atop the head light assembly. Nothing more than a piece of open cell foam and a plastic cover. Seems, presumably from Death Valley washboard 
, my DS vent foam and plastic cover had enough of the jarring ride and decided to permanently camp out somewhere other than the headlight housing.
Of course I figured this out because water got into the headlight housing and did its magic number on the plastic chrome plating...requiring a new headlight assembly. Would rather have bought a couple very nice bottles of wine...or filled up both tanks
Gore actually makes a breather that would be far better than what Toyota gives us...and it threads in place or could be epoxied without much if any mod. But I have yet to find a source for a couple: Gore Protective/Poly Vent PMF100318 (or grey variant PMF100319).
