Well finally I am done with the rear/front thirds and the knuckle rebuild....with without a hitch.

As some as you know I bought spools. Front was not intentional just the way it went down. I got a chance today to drive it in the field and such. It did very well .

Here is what it did and handled both in grass, tank traps and in some rocks.

No push or pull

I do feel it will be interesting on ice;)

No bad steering(restriction) while moving. It does feel like I am driving a 71 pig without power steering:hillbilly:. Nothing I cannot live with. NO BINDING....not even a hint.

Bad... I loose a bit of steering while stopped..that is where I WILL NEED STEER ASSIST. Will not be fun in the rocks without it.

I will buy a tapped IFS box and a small ram kit from somewhere. NOT FROM TRAIL GEAR from what I hear.

For those that are looking to spool both front and rear these are the plus's and the negatives. Like me be sure to buy Longfields and Longfield inner axles. Some say to also buy the hub gear from Bobby I would and here is what I would do being it only takes 15 minutes or so to change one.

Put them both in the glove box until needed. Why you ask? My logic is if something is going to give you are far better for that to give on the trail than a Axle or Birf. If something brakes well there you go.....you have 2 on hand.

Problem is that when the hub gear goes, it can take out the splines on the Birf.. And that is not a warranty issue..

Snow isn't the enemy. It's ice. And as much as people love to pee on a spools ability on ice, truth is, nothing is good on ice.

well, nothing street legal that is. IDK about where you live, but studded tires are not legal here in TN.

I've got some winter tire tests by Petersens, P4WOR. Their rig was locked and they loved how it handled in the snow.

Well my other set of tires are studded. I had them on the rig until Sunday and I hated them cause of trying to make turns in tight parking lots....the jerking and s***.....other than that the spools is not a issue other than being in 4 wheel drive and trying to turn while sitting still.

Ice....it was icy as hell coming home last night but I have Mud Kings which is a really soft tire....which is better on ice.

Here is the thing.... I am used to ice and snow in a bad way so somebody else may not have the same results as me..what I am getting at is I am good at it.

i hate being locked in the snow. but maybe it was just my lame TSL SSR's

if the tires are jerking, run really high psi in the tire. dont exceed the max. i run 50 pounds.

i love going into gas stations where there is black top, and makin all kinds of racket while it echos under the roof. everyone looks. they must be all thinking, What a piece of crap truck!

I never thought of bumping up the air pressure;)
