Problem with brake performance?

Best solution:
1. Disc brakes DBA GOLD Series
2. Brake pads EBC 6x6 SUV

See pictures below.

I think your jack stands have a little problem as well. Maybe you could of put some money into a nice set of jack stands.

First off, could we keep the brake posts in the brake thread and not cross-post in every recent thread about your brake problems?

I checked the two leading consumer advocacy sites (Consumer Reports and Consumer Guide) as well as the NHSTA site where NA customers go to file complains regarding all things automotive. Not a single complaint regarding brakes in either the LC200 or LX570. A Google search turned up nothing either (excluding this thread and your thread on a Lexus forum). You state you're not the only one having issues. So far, of the couple/few hundred 200-series owners here, only one has stated they had customers claim they've had similar issues. If this was a genuine design flaw, where are the other owners here with similar issues? Why after nearly four years of production has this issue not been brought up before?

I'm not disputing you've had issues with the brakes on your vehicle but your situation does not appear to be the norm. There are many members here who haven't had any similar issues of the short brake life. So far, I've got 20k on my MY09 and the brakes are not even at 50% wear since my most recent service.

I suspect your vehicle(s) are genuinely defective or the quick pad wear is a result of driving habits. You stated earlier than your X6 only achieved only 9400 miles before brakes need to be replaced. That too is unreasonably low mileage for brakes leading me to believe driving habits may be more at fault than the vehicle themselves.
I am having the same problem with my 2009 LX570 had rear brakes replaced at 15,000 and 25,000 miles while driving at 35,000 miles on the way to dealership for noise I heard 2 days prior my brakes gave out completly had to have car towed (thank god I di not kill myself) and they are telling me my brakes failed becase i drove thru the pads, rotors, and break fluid pump!! Meanwhile I have my car serviced every 3,000 miles HELP!!!!!! what do I do this sounds fishy to me!!!

Wow, that was a long sentence without proper punctuation. With only one post, no one is going to believe you without a photo. We've had to many Pagemaster reincarnations around here. Please try again, post a photo, and use the period (.) key occasionally.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

JB nailed that one on the head

BTW how do you drive through a "brake fluid pump"? WTF???

Can I buy a vowel?

I'm reluctant to say this because the guy above may have a legitimate problem and is just not expressing himself well, but if my posts sound that bad I now see why you guys always accuse me of being a troll;)

he can afford an LX570 but writes like that?

i'm calling BS.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. There is no mention of location so maybe, just maybe, English is a second language. I just have a hard time believing that anyone who can afford a $75k+ Lexus can't construct a sentence. Admittedly, I'm no English scholar but I at least attempt to write semi-legible posts.

Usually you capitalize the first word of a sentence. Just sayin.

This just became one of my favorite threads ;) Finally, I'm not the only one who gets annoyed with nonsensical writing.

So, anyone ever considered upgrading the brake set, say to a 6 piston version from Alcon or StopTech? I'm not talking about increasing the size but rather the stopping power from more contact/pressure.

I did some googling and came up with some sweet Alcon brakes made for stopping an armored LC200 but while also allowing 17" wheels.

Oops, 14 month old thread.... still a relevant question that I do not see answers for so far.

Absolute best bang for the buck.... which reminds me, I need to restock rotors.

Brake upgrade development

The Alcon stuff is very expensive. It only fits 17" wheels with the supplied 30mm wheel spacers. I have all the info on it if you have any questions.... brian@jowettperformance.com

I agree for the rear. I am running a similar set up. For the front I am running the Performance Friction two piece rotor with their pad; unbelievable stopping power! The PF rotors and pads were designed for uparmored LC's. They were also working on a major upgrade for the rear but probably not necessary unless you are hauling armor around.

I received an update from Performance Friction and they are now offering a full kit for front and rear brakes. Their tech said list is $6,500, Ouch! but I know it is good stuff. I asked Justin, the tech rep, for pictures to post here. I'll update if he sends anything. I do have the spreadsheet showing what is included, contact me if you are interested.

The kit I worked on with Stoptech for almost a yr for my armored TLCs is a lot cheaper then $6500.

Kit included 6piston front/4piston rear all rotors/pads/brake lines and fluid. Stops an armored (4ton) TLC in shorter distance the a normal unarmored TLC.

And more important fits all 17" TLC OEM wheels without spacers

Testing on an unarmored TLC stopped the car in less distance then a Porsche 911. (Almost put the driver though the steering wheel)

Changed at 60k miles. Could have went to 65k. Went back with OEM specs.

Is there any good brake upgrade at under $3k for LX? Are Tundra brakes the same or better, and can fit LX?

I have an R500 and X5d. Both have far better response and total stopping distance. My LX performs per spec, but I am not happy with the total braking performance. Thank you.

I'm running the Performance 360 cross-drilled/slotted rotors on my 200. I've only got a few hundred miles on them so they are not fully bedded but so far I really like them. Far better than the stock rotors BUT mine were super warped so it was hard to get any feel from the brakes beyond a constant pulse anytime you had foot on pedal.

Thanks. Any idea why they warp. I have other vehicles that have gone 100k plus with rotors in great shape. Every Lexus Toyota I have had begins to warp after 40-60k miles.

I wonder if the original poster of this thread is not this guy:

That would eat the brakes pretty quick, burn out with a permanent 4 wheel drive system, what can possibly go wrong ? ;)
