Ultimate cooler/ice chest??
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The one full of cold beer....

The 60 is the perfect size. My ARB 60 allows me to carry all the adult necessities as well as more than enough food for any wheelin trip. Just 02

ultimate cool

I use this 54 qt. stainless model from Coleman.

Keeps ice for over a week, and it's bomber.

Now to drop it in this chassis with 13" travel and some mini-revo's!

X2 on the full of beer= ultimate.
This one lets you store liters vertically, and the big 22oz'ers from breweries and the growlers too.

The only negative I have found, since I have mine in my LC: The compressor's heat output on a 90+ degree day makes a shut parked vehicle that much hotter...and the A/C takes a bit longer to get the cabin cooled down and maintained...

Slow A/C in a 80 series cruiser! What a bummer! ;) :D

Topless and 45mph is the only A/C for me! :D

Couldn't resist ...

If I lived where you live I wouldn't need A/C either :flipoff2:. Oh yeah...it's a dry heat out here...uh huh .

I had just about convince myself to get one of the Engles but then Godwin brought up the question of how comfortable I'll feel with a $1000 refrigerator sitting in the back of my truck just ripe for the pickin. So now I'm not so sure. Plus it looks like I'll have access to free ice so the cost savings with an Engle may not be there anymore.

I did have a chance to look at some of the Coleman 5-day coolers and, without trying one, was impressed by the wall thickness - also pretty cheap. I had also been considering Yeti coolers. Initially I thought the Roughneck series would be the way to go but then had a chance to look at the Sherpa line. They were much more rugged and well built than I had thought by looking at them online.

If you take the dually anything that's sitting in the back will be ripe for the pickin'; stuff will be less ripe for the pickin' if you take the Extrusion. With a fridge you'll have to wire it and bolt it down somehow. But then if you go with a cooler you have to deal with dragging it around to drain it and replace the ice on a regualar basis. I have an old Maxcool Coleman you can have but it needs a new latch and it's been chewed on by alligator snappers :grinpimp:.

Thanks for the offer but now that I've learned how to make my own ice I think I can swing buying something. Plus you know me and spending money - the only thing I like to do more is spend someone elses money!

My husband has been looking for an ARB cooler for his Cruiser, what is a good price for one like yours if I was shopping for one?

About $650 for the 30 qt, up to $1000 for the 60qt.

My folks bought an engel new 20 years ago (39L) and it is still going strong. Inbetween trips away its used as a beer fridge, so its been running every day for 20 years now, with no problems and done many thousands of km's offroad.

They've recently upgraded to a 60L model, but the 39L is still getting plenty of use :)
