I'm officially a home owner in need if a fence!

Anyone know of a good company that's not to expensive. Looking at a wood style privacy fence I'm just on the other side of Clemson in Seneca.

I'm getting quotes now on a fence. I can give you names if you want, but one local company wouldn't call back even after I talked to the owner, another sounded drunk as a skunk and would NOT put any posts in concrete, one was quite high but the construction sounded quality, and I'm waiting on another quote. Really only have 1 acceptable quote so far to work from.

Yeah, let me know how it works out, I wanted to try my hand at it but I just don't have the time. I've only got 3 days off in July.

I do a lot of fences down here. Your quote for a stick built 6 ft. privacy fence (not pre-fabbed panels) should be in the $18.00 to $20.00 a foot range. Never heard of someone refusing to use concrete, though. I also get $300.00 for each gate, in addition to the footage price, but I make a really nice gate.
Any gate 4 feet or over needs to be hanging on a 6 x 6, not a 4 x 4.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Benke. We are doing a 3 board with welded wire mesh. 220', 3 walk gates, one double drive gate. Quotes range from less than $2k to almost $6k. With a few mods Lowes will be below $4k. At $300 per gate that's less than $13/ft. Does that sound right?

The guy that wouldn't put posts in concrete swore if you put the posts 4' deep they won't move. He was also either drunk or high as a skunk.

He's right. They won't move...until they rot.

I was concerned about rot but my first concern was my dog constantly jumping on the fence to look at the chickens. 50 lbs over and over again on the fence will move it eventually. I don't care if the posts are 4' deep as he said they would be, they aren't driven into the ground, a hole is bored and then the posts lowered and dirt packed around the post which = soft ground. Couple that with our back yard being fairly soft and it would not work. This was the drunk guy too. Think about the cop videos you see of DUIs on TV where the DUI'r can't make a coherent phrase, much less a sentence. Yeah....

I've only talked to one place and the guy is suppose to come out today. My issues are not knowing property lines and a bunch of brush and crap the previous owner kindly left for me to clean up. My neighbor to the right of me has chain link covered in ivy so I'm not worried about that and the rear of my place is a pasture with cattle fence. So I guess I only need one full side and two 1/2s sides tied to the house.

Thanks for the estimates on the pricing. I guess I need to measure the area to see if I'm getting ripped off.

Anyone know how I find exact property lines????

You can come look at the privacy fence lowes installed in the neighborhood...it is so bad that they had them stop half way and they finished it themselves...with in a week 2 panels had fallen off the lowes side....the same guy that coordinates the installs for the Clemson store does it for the Seneca store.

Well hell... :bang:

Garrick B is the guy's name.

The next acceptable quote is almost $2k higher. And while I want a quality fence that will be here a loooong time and I also don't want to overpay I also don't mind paying a bit more to get quality work.

Steve-

You are a handy guy, build it yourself. This one was recently built by one of my best friends and her :princess: dad:

I've been trying to build it for a year and the farthest I've gotten is measuring for length. I just don't have the time. I've hired a few people to help at work and still can't keep up. I need a vacation...

Piggy that stays in easley. Was being watched so only 1 pic.
