OK, let's talk about a meeting location. I know Dan & I live close (Around Balboa Park) so we will probably drive up together and I think Either Vince or Ulyses also lives near by so the main person so far we have to meet up with is Mo coming in from the OC. Where we are starting the trail is just past the 78 & Borrgego Springs Rd. Intersection. For us Diegan's I am still deciding if going straight through Julian is the best route or if going around to S-2 is better. S-2 is more miles but much more straight. Mo will probably be coming up 79 to S-2 to 78. So if any of you have input this is where things stand.

Mo will probably be coming up 79 to S-2 to 78.

I usually go out the 76 to the 79 then S2 to S22 to get to Borrego Springs proper, going up to S2 and down to 78 would be out of the way. I can just take the 79 south to the 78. Since I am the only one coming from the north I don't mind meeting you all at our starting point of 78 and Buttes Rd or we can meet at the nearest town/gas station or whatever. I am easy, just let me know where to be and when to be there. :D

Actually S-2 is the most common way to get out there and wouldn't be all that out of the way for you.
Normally when going into Borrego Springs I take the 78 to Santa Ysabel where I make a left onto the 79, then a right onto S-2 and a left onto S-22 and down the curvy road into town. For those with travel trailers they typically stay on S-2 all the way back to 78 and down S-3 into town. This skips the curvy roads through Julian on the 78 and on S-22.
Last time out there with Reid we took the 78 through Julian because we were on fumes and needed to gas up on Julian but man does that curvy road take a while. So I am assuming that's why everyone I have ever been out their with takes 79 & S-2.
So lastly as for a meeting place with you Mo, I think the intersection of 78 & Borrego Springs Rd would be a good meeting place. It is a few miles before our trail head and much easier to find, since Butes Rd is just a small dirt road off the left side of the 78.

Sounds great to me. What is the official meet time?

You said the weekend after Thanksgiving, and I was thinking the 1st/2nd of Dec. Not the weekend of Thanksgiving. :flipoff2:

I'm totally in on this Mark. Put me down (on the list).

Glad I checked back in here!

No, I said the Fri or Sat after thanksgiving you Dweeb....

OK, I guess we can let you in! But I think 8 rigs will have to be the Max, since I have never done this trail and it will be sort of a exploration.

By the way, I was looking at the trail on G.E. again and I realized that we will be getting back on the pavement 5 miles south of Truckhaven, not across the Hwy as I originally thought. If any of you want me to e-mail the G.E. file of the trail just shoot me an e-mail. See post #35 for info.

Yeah, I know. The missed communication was definitely on my part.

I believe those routes are pretty open. And since they are not technical runs, I really don't think it is necessary to limit the rig count. I'd say if you were to limit, put it at 10 or 15. But it's up to you.

BTW: I want the Google Earth file. You should have my email addy.

I only want to limit it because I have never been to these areas and since I started this nonsense I will probably be leading it! It does look pretty wide open but there is one area after Cut-Across Trail where we need to get into the right canyon to get to all of the Palm Oasis'. The trail line is very faint on G.E. so we may have to improvise on the fly. If we do get a few more I probably won't turn them away.

My plans for a run that weekend with another group went bust. So I'm down for this run. Are you guys OK giving the last open spot to a Heep? I'm up for camping for the night and doing another run the next day if anyone else is game.

Braden is fun to wheel with...even with a Jeep!

Sweet, we are getting more and more. I am up for 8am meet time if that is cool with everyone else. Off to the 1000 in about 5 minutes, hopefully we will do as well this year as last. Fingers crossed. ;p

Right on man.

I was going to PM you for this run.

Can't camp though. Not this time anyway.
