There is no set location to insall a non oem motor , i set the entire drivetrain in put a jack under the trans to hold it up ,trimed around the floor to make the tcase fit ,trimed the lower firewall by the bellhousing , and set the motor up as far as it would go . i wanted nothing sticking below the frame ,like the tcase . It actually fits really good . we put in 3.4 swaps all the time in 90s trucks and 4runners at the shop that are harder to fit under the hood than the 4.7 in the 55

to do any swap the new drivetrain will be in and out several times before it is right and clears everything . and then when its done , it has to come back out to fully weld in the mounts and paint the engine bay .

i can take any pics you want and post them , if it helps . I installed that one in 2000 . so alot of the details are a little fuzzy by now . but it is still my daily driver . and favorite Nothing says retro like driving a PIG

I greatly appreciate the information and the pics. I hope to one day use my pig as a daily driver. I love the lines and shape I just want it to be as dependable as my truck when it comes to the engine and drivetrain.

Where are you located @fj55-100. I am sourcing my parts I think I'll need your help along the way.

As much as I would love to keep it all original I feel like I'll be happier with a modern drivetrain and engine. The F is giving more then a little bit of problems with the carb issues I am having.
