Hey guys.. I am looking to get away just after Christmas and need to be back by new years. Sorry to be so picky but thats my window. I am starting school in January, 18 months straight and need to get out before the sh*& hits the fan.

I am posting to see if anyone has any interest in a 2-3-4 day jaunt. My dad who is in his 60s is coming along, so he will need motel/hotel accomodations, he is not willing to sleep in a tent. My dad has caught the bug and really likes wheelin with me in my toyotas:D. He and I have done Joshua Tree and Death Valley together, looking for something new maybe? I dont want to go where there is snow and I do want something with some rocks. I hope someone is intersted, but if not can you make a good recommendation? I am interested in as much info as you can share. I really hope to have a few new friends come along but I know it's not the best time.

Since i have last checked in I finally did get to make a run up Coyote Canyon in my freshly built 80 and it was great! Unfortunately I screwed up the camera settings, here is the only picture that was worth a post. Sorry for the over exposed crappy pic. I'll ad some good ones to balance it out. Keep in mind I dont have sliders yet, just a 5" lift and 35"s.

This time of year, you gotta be in the desert, pretty much.

So, Anza Borrego has tons of trails. You can easily spend several days out there, and there's motels in Borrego Springs.

The Mojave Road from Laughlin to Baker, there are some motel opportunities nearby. There are tons of side trips off the main Mojave road through the Mojave Preserve that can keep you busy for several days, lots of really cool mines to explore and some absolutely gorgeous scenery. Lava tubes that you can walk down into, very cool stuff, and lots of history.

You can also visit Quartzite AZ if you want, although it doesn't peak until mid January-February.

Crazy Quartzite or Quartzsite - What You Need to Know About Quartzsite Arizona

Have you gotten into all the out-of-the-way 4-wheel-drive backroads in Death Valley? If not, there's some really cool places back there.

where are you guys headed, maybe we can meet up? I really dont want to do Borrego, I go there all the time. It is a good place to wheel though, I just want to see something new.

My dad refuses to go down there now after being robbed twice. He was doing research down there for years. They were robbed twice, im just about ready to write the place off myself. I have heard several accounts of that type of BS going on down there to friends of mine as well. Dont mean to keep shooting down good suggestions, I appreciate the feedback everyone;)

I might want to head to Truckhaven Hills on one of those days and spend the night. Will bring my son so a hotel would work for me. I will post up if it's a go as we get closer.

I have not done truckhaven yet that might be a lot of fun. Hopefully you know your way around that run..I sure dont.:D

Just don't let Reid lead you into the narrowest trails Truck Haven has to offer..... :flipoff2:

You could get stuck between a rock & a hard place.

Or you could have to do a turn around where you scrape the wall with your ARB

This was the last run on Turkey Day.

Lets say I wanted to go back to Death Valley, can you guys reccommend some good trails. I have done pleasant canyon, goler wash and mengel pass.. Let me know whatcha think, hoping for something with some good obstacles, dont like the shelf roads a lot, especially with my big rig.

used the search button , gathering some info on DV

Leaving to DV on wednesday AM, please let me know if there are any last minute suggestions. Looking for a few good rock crawls in the park. Any trails that are not in the books?

Merry X-Mas!!
