This trim piece is loose and rattles when driving. It goes in a channel on the A pillar inboard of the door.

Dealer quoted 300ish to replace it. Seems high if it just snaps in. Noticed the passenger side has popped up as well.

Anyone fixed this on their own? What’s the piece called?

Haven’t replaced them myself but this should be what you are looking for.

You can buy the replacement clips and reinstall yourself. There is a schematic online, probably at Camelback and other places. Easy to do once you look at it. The plastic clips apparently age and break. I had one of my molding pieces depart on the interstate in a high wind.

The section along the glass is held by the plastic clips that age and break, but the upper edge is held by spring steel clips that are glued to the body. Those come loose too, but can easily be glued back to the body if you still have them. Maybe still clipped to the plastic trim if that’s the problem. I just drilled an 1/8” hole in the center of the clips to better hold the glue and re-glued with 5 minute JBWeld.

Yup, mine were broken. I noticed the trim piece on my 13LC would not stay properly in place and asked a body/ paint shop to replace it. They were able to buy and replace only the clips. Now it seems to be just fine.

Per factory service procedure the metal clips at the top are glued to the body with a flexible epoxy. When windshields are replaced they usually don’t source the right stuff and use silicon or urethane. If things are cleaned well this can work but toyota probably specified the epoxy for a reason.

It is also important to glue the metal clips on and let the glue harden before reattaching the trim. Otherwise the trim tries to lift the metal clips and while tape can help prevent this it is hard to keep the trim down completely.

I had to redo my side moldings while hunting a whistle at speed and think I took some pics.. will see if I can find them. Til then.. the epoxy I used is called “FlexEpox” by TotalBoat on amazon. More expensive than some old RTV but I’m pretty sure it’ll do a better job.

I’ll look for those pics

Well I must not have grabbed any pics. I did run across my thread where I realized aftermarket top molding was responsible for a windshield whistle.. maybe have a look and see if yours is factory. I do remember the non-factory molding pushing up on the side molding more than if it were OEM.. helping them want to lift up like yours did.

Sorry it took so long to respond to this. The metal clips are still glued to the body. The plastic pulled away from the metal clip.
