Good Afternoon!
I am in search of a new transmission mount for my 85 FJ60. Anyone know where I can get one? The one that's on mine is worn out pretty bad, the shifter goes everywhere when the engine is under load. Thanks for any help!

I bought a cheap-o off of Rock Auto, DEA brand if I recall correctly...and it seems well made...but the bolt spacing was off (the curvature did not match the bottom of the trans perfectly) so I had to file 3 of 4 holes to make it work.

Seems to be doing the job just fine, and was only $20...but I will buy OEM next time.

My $0.02

If your shifter is moving a lot, it is not the transmission mount, but instead a broken driver side motor mount.

Open the hood. Leave e-brake set. Give it a little load in first. If the engine rises your mount is bad. On second thought. Safer way. Block of wood on the oil pan plus a floor jack.

Also be sure to inspect the fan for wear from hitting the fan shroud.

Sounds like you have an FJ62 mount.

Well guys, I just went ahead and bought the motor and trans mount. I replaced the motor mount today and the truck drives like a dream. Will be doing the trans tomorrow and rebuilding the front end this weekend.

Right on brother! Glad we could help!

Honestly i think this should just turn into a rebuild thread so I dont have to keep making new topics. I finished all of my work and now the truck overheats. While I was on the highway I had to pull over because the truck was hot. Opened the hood and a hose popped in my face. Nothing cool about hot anti-freeze in your face. So had to get a tow home and now I have started doing the work to fix it.

I have:
Replaced the Thermostat(Probably was overheating for the PO b/c there wasn't one)
Replaced all hoses, they were all frankensteined in there.
Water pump will likely be next
Ordered head gasket in case I need to

Anything else you guys can think of to fix this?

Also, truck has a new 5 core rad and an electric fan. I assume the truck overheated and the PO did these as measures to fix it to no avail. Water pump has not been replaced.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Do a search for "Purging" the cooling system. The 2d's can get air bubbles in the system which can cause overheating.

I assume the everything else - rad, water pump, coolant passages, etc are good and clear?

Welcome! It gets better!

After a series of checks and several parts replacements, the heater core hoses still seem to not be getting filled. I am going to cut them and do a flush again this week and see how it goes. Also bought a water pump to replace the possibly worn out one. I'll post again tomorrow night after I finish all of this and let you guys know how it turns out.

Cut the hoses and gave them a good flush. Got some good brown stuff out of there and while that was draining I went ahead and did the tranny fluid too since it hasn't been feeling the best. With that all finished I'm about to drive it around for 30 minutes and see if it overheats again. Here's hoping.

Well the bad news is it's still overheating. Good news is it shifts slightly better. Got a stock fan coming in this week so i hope that it works out after that gets put in. Will be changing out the fan clutch at the same time just to be sure.

Verdict: Still down for now.

Did you "Burp" the system? These can be a little difficult to get all the air out.

I parked the open end on a ramp and squeezed all the hoses with the heater on. Not sure if I got it all but I will try again. Maybe I should get one of those pressurized deals.

I know members ahve used the ramp as you did, and added a long transmission type funnel with a rubber hose adapter to seal it's connection to radiator cap opening. You fill the funnel with coolant and run it for awhile or until no more bubbles.

The added liquid height in the funnel adds some pressure to the coolant and helps force out the bubbles.

Hope this works.

Alright boys, unfortunately after running a quick test on the coolant it seems that I have a blown head gasket. I will be ripping the head off to replace the gasket and send the head to a machine shop. Fun start I guess.

After all this, got the gasket off... got the head cleaned annnnnnnnnddddd the head is cracked. The problems never seem to end with the 2F. Well, now I am in need of a new head or a motor swap. i am unsure which will be cheaper at this point since if I do a new head i probably should rebuild the rest of the motor. Any advice is appreciated.
