I know I can jump the AT temp light at the ob2 connector and do it that way. I have an old windows computer that I’m working to add tech stream…

TBS lowered temp to 97f-115f. "jump" signals at higher temp.

How much was the previous temperature range and why TBS lowered the temp?

I live in UAE and temperatures are pretty hot here. I stopped the car for more than an hour and not able to decrease the temperature at the workshop. So, I filled and let it overflow at 56 C (133 F). My workshop guy quickly closed when we see it is about to stop. I am bit worried that is it really under filled or I am good to go.

You are under filled. TSB & current TSI reads 36c (97F) to 46c (115F). If A/T #1, 115F or greater, shut down engine and let cool until A/T #1 at 86F.

Old was 46C (115F) to 56C (130F) This is what the blinking dash light procedure, by jumping at OBD port. So that method does not work.

Some without Tech Stream, shoot IR gun on pan. Which, ambient and radiant heat will influence reading. This typically reads a few degrees less than A/T #1. When in a shop at ~70F, good IR gun, held within 1"-3" of center of bottom of pan.

He's one more thing to consider: A/T fill temp is with Toyota WS ATF.

One other note. The TSB does not include the 2003. Which was first year in USA to get the new Transmission 5AT A750F. Last year to have a dipstick, which is so much easier to check and fill. They have us fill it at 158F-176F. Which has been concerning me.

So in any transmission 98-07. I try to hit the very lowest A/T fluid temp Toyota gives as range, to top within. In my 03, I may add a little extra next summer.

The 03 is the only one that Toyota states use Toyota ATF type IV. It's to, cost less than the full synthetic.

I'm currently running Mobil full synthetic MV ATF in all 5AT & 6AT (03-up). II use Mobil One MV ATF 98-02.

Does anyone know the amount of fluid it takes to go before the low and the high levels on the dipstick in the 4 speed transmission?

Answering my own question…it’s about 500ml between hot low and hot high. Hope this helps someone else in the future.
Great info.. good to know it takes very little to go from low to hi.. thanks

I fill it so it is at hot-low when warm, because I noticed several times when I am stuck in traffic for 30min or so (AC is on) and check when I arrive home, it is slightly above hot-high ..

Interesting data point! What fluid do you use?

I did drain and fill with Toyota T-IV, twice, then Redline D4 ,twice, all within the last 5k miles or so ... I assume 70% of the fluid is new, 50% should be Redline .. my japanese 100 doesn't have an ATF cooler after the radiator like your 100s ..
