This is the controller I installed in my Tacoma: Hopkins InSIGHT Flex-Mount Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional Hopkins Brake Cont

Mounting was very flexible as the components are relatively small. Smart box went on the left kick panel (no picture of that. . .sorry), manual override on the lower right dash, and display unit up "in" the instrument cluster.

I have a 2019 LC200 and I am wondering whether they still have a brake controller install port? Anyone? Same place as these listed above? Thanks!
I don't have a 2019 to look at, but I haven't seen any signs that they have changed anything in that area of the vehicle.

I just brought home a 2019 and it came with the jumper harness. Have not pulled anything apart yet but would think it would still have the plug somewhere in there.

Yes, the 2019 LC has the brake controller connector taped up behind the switch panel as other posts have shown. I installed a Redarc TowPro Elite a few weeks ago.

Per the OP...I liked how the P3 controlled fit neatly here. It's perfect location when I'm driving - easy to see and access with plenty of leg room.

But jam your shin on it once when getting in...I said words I didn't know I knew.... :censor:

Sweet! Did you buy the Redarc from etrailer.com? What else did you need? Thank you!!

Yep, etrailer.

You’ll need to attach the factory Toyota harness that came with the LC to the Redarc. I used solder-filled heat-shrink butt splices from Amazon. The Redarc wiring diagram and the factory harness diagram are fairly easy to interpret. There’s an extra wire that isn’t used (can’t recall if it’s on the controller or harness).

I mounted the controller on the kick panel using 3M VHB tape and screws. I originally tried industrial “Velcro” but the adhesive wouldn’t stick to the pebbled plastic.

Thank you. This is very helpful. I saw somewhere that buying the wiring from Redarc that connects a Tekonsha port to the Redarc wiring would work (suggesting LC200 is prewired for Tekonsha). Tekonsha Wiring Harness suitable Tow-Pro Brake Controller Harness shows the part. I wonder whether that will fit? Maybe you can tell looking at it - I have yet to dig out the actual Toyota harness. I appreciate all this help - the etrailer guy said LC200 no longer had the wiring harness. That didn't make sense.

Just to clarify (I used the term harness loosely):

There’s a harness with connector taped up inside the dash.
You should also have a “pigtail” most likely in your glovebox. This has bare wires on one end, and a connector on the other that plugs into the vehicle harness.
The Redarc comes with a “pigtail”. This has bare wires on one end, and a connector on the other that plugs into the controller.

The bare ends of the Toyota pigtail and the Redarc pigtail need to be connected as per the Redarc wiring diagram. The Toyota pigtail also comes with a wiring diagram that will help match the wiring. I tried a Tekonsha 3040-P harness but it doesn’t have the correct connector for the Redarc.

Thanks for all of your inputs on this topic. Very much appreciated. So here 👆🏻 Is how I interpreted the mapping from the TowPro Elite to the 200-series harness (TowPro wire colors written next to the respective Toyota harness wire). Sorry for the crappy photo. Can anyone confirm?

I'd have to pull the dash apart to verify but I believe that's the same as my redarc. Blue definitely operated the actual brake, and the green w/ strip you didn't use is correct - I didn't use that either as it's just for a backlight.

TIS wirign diagram shows black is battery, white is ground, green is tail, blue is trailer brake, and red is brake light (trigger) so again I think you're good

Thanks for the feedback @linuxgod! This is what I’m going with 👍

Followed @GWNavigator diagram and works perfect. Very straight forward addition. Maybe an hours worth of time mostly adding butt connectors and heat shrink.

Here are some pics of the wires

I placed the switch on the right hand side as that is where I have had intigrated brake controllers on other vehicles and seems more natural for me

I was a bit apprehensive about tugging on the trim but popped out with no issue. I pulled in the gap under the steering wheel in the trim.

Thanks to OP as this thread has been very helpful.

@Ozon8r glad you got to try it out before I did! But seriously, glad it worked out - I need to do this over the weekend. I prefer the right hand placement too. Where did you mount the control module?

I did mine on the left because I can actually see it without poking my head around the steering wheel. Right side would’ve been preferable to me as well but I couldn’t find a spot I could see it and easily reach it. To make space I moved the headlight aiming switch to the right panel. I’m now outta blanks.

Although this is a screen shot from an earlier post showing the control module mounted on the right side of what was described as the ECU (I don't know), I used 3M VHB double sided tape and placed on the left side of the silver module pictured below. I saw in another post that this is where someone placed it. I have installed devices along the left side footwell kick plate before and found that I would inadvertently kick the area. So, I prefer the control module tucked out of the way.

I have a Redarc brake controller coming this week, and have the factory plug to splice into.

My left side blanks are all filled, so I need to install in right side like some others have done

Is the switch blank with trailer embossed on it included in the kit? Or is this a separate part? If it is separate, does anyone have the part number for the one that fits?

Added later in an edit: it should be the TPSI-002 as included in the Redarc kit for the 200 kit in Australia. Instructions here: Kit instructions

Here's the switch plate I ordered from eTrailer when I ordered my Redarc controller. Popped right in.

Thanks!! i just ordered it from eTrailer (same place I ordered the Redarc controller, actually).
