Perfection!! Job well done.

After it dries a bit longer, a few pinstripes, and an even coat of dust and it’ll blend right in.

Great work BTW… my last set of rockers had visible seams… but I suppose that’s because the patches were hand formed, I used no filler, and it was before I had a mig welder (oxyacetylene torches). My hardtop with a stick welder turned out better. I suppose mig should be a step up again.

Bumpy and dusty 25km road to Willemar lake

Well she survived the shakes test. Even at 10 psi it was a little bouncy. I don't think this cruiser will be seeing much more dusty roads with the top off.

Ya, convertibles and logging roads are a bad combo. My BJ74 was a mess after a weekend south of Lk Cow. But the old
roads all grown over are mystical. The rears springs are hard to adjust, I would recommend if you can find a 1" or thicker
piece of conveyor belt to cover the rear floor. It needs 100 lbs or so at the back to smooth it out. Excuse to build a rear
bumper and maybe a swingout. It really helps, kept my 40 nice when I had the spare on the back rack

Was that the trip we did out by upper walbran?

Did you bring the canoe?
No I did not. The front window is too sharp for pool noodles on bouncy logging roads. It would just cut through and ruin my gunnels. Just blow up boats and inner tubes for the kids.

Too little rear weight isn’t a problem I have. In ‘92 I rebuilt the rear tub with 11 ga steel and 1/8” wall box steel for crossmembers. Quick math at 5 lbs per sq ft… 480 lbs. Add a steel rear tank, and 75ish litres of gas = 200 lbs.

I’d estimate a stock 40 tub is about 200 odd lbs. with a tank of fuel it’s about 2500 lbs over the rear axles. Probably about 500 extra pounds before compressor and FF axle. Even topless still 300 more than a 40 with a top.
