Nice 40 but the ‘story’ is suspect for sure. 10k miles per year in 1968 FJ40 is a lot. It’s exhausting to drive an old FJ40 that much and usually these see a lot of short trips. Just a bunch off things here that don’t add up. The drag link end doesn’t look factory and it’s seen better days. Not sure that would have been replaced in 41k miles. Liars are sinners, see window sticker. Regardless, great 40 and I wish I owned it.

I think it is very cool in in fact original.

Question: Would the gas cap and door access panels have been painted blue from the factory? It also appears to have red oxide primer. I have never had one that old but that trucks that I have seen have used a sort of green grey primer.

Probably 140k miles, but still super nice and original. Probably a flipper that picked it up recently.

Edit: My `68 build has color match door panels, but I've seen both silver and color match on older 40's. Red oxide primer is correct. I've also seen color match on the turn signal bodies too, so gas cap could be correct. Headliners are gone on most of them.

The more I look at that 40, the better it looks. Wish I had been the lucky sob to find it "in the barn" ;)

I noticed the painted gas cap and door access panels too. That with the trashed seat, no headliner but still wrapped visors makes me question everything. The window seals look “too nice” for being original also.
Still nice looking and I’d drive it.

The painted gas cap is correct. My 1967 original paint fj40 had a painted gas cap. It looks pretty legit to me.

Well, this seems to be the way with old Toyotas. My 6/66 build date, but titled as a 67 has the original gas cap, that is not painted. :)

This is a beauty, but like most of the commentators have noted, something is sus about the 41k claim. The non-painted turn signals. I would expect to see the spot welds on the quarters, but that could just be the camera/pics. Still has the factory battery tray liner though. Is that backup light correct for a 1968? Is this in Spokane or Montana?

What would really help this thing sell as a true barn find is simply a pic or two of the "barn find". I want to see a before pics.

All said, its still a very clean original cruiser that I'm wishing I owned

I believe it’s in Troy, MT. Likely advertising in Spokane for more reach. If anyone goes to look at it, stop by the Home Bar.
