your going to have to read the install manual .and either mount the disc images or burn the disc's and do the full install as per the instructional manual

the method posted above was for an older version of a backup of the installed program this
2010 epc is a newer program all together.

see post# 297 it shows the older EPC interface versus the newer program interface. the info i posted earlier was to install the backup of the older program

Okay, I have the 2010 version down. (and seeding)

I am a bit confused on the install... Can I install manually like you said above or is there a shortcut. I'd love to be able to have the NA and JDM markets at the same time, plus the frame info.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cool!

That's why I was asking. I have some RW disks I coiuld burn.

Q's:

1) So is the backup easier to install with the method described?
2) Once installed, can I do the backup method to actuallly reinstall if I rebuild my computer?
if so , once I get it installed, I could make a 'backup' torrent file that would save a TON of steps for futue downloaders.
2) Can I install this and keep the previous version I have for comparison sake?

Thanks!

answer

#1 for me yes
#2 not to sure on the newer EPC but by looking at it i would think so
it looks like it installs itself to a few folders on the root of the C:drive
#3 yes

PS i like UltraISO ISO CD DVD image creator, editor and ISZ DMG DAA UIF to ISO converter - UltraISO can extract/create/edit/convert CD and DVD image files directly, make bootable CDs and convert ISZ DMG DAA UIF to ISO.
when burning and mounting disc images :grinpimp:

need help with install epc 2007

Hi there,

I found this thread last week and decided to install the EPC 2007.
But now I'm running into some problems.
I downloaded all the files from MattF's workshop manuals in the epc section.
I used µTorrent to download all the 20 zip files. Well 19 plus the install.zip file.
I unzipped the 19 data files to ISO files. So far so good. Now here comes the first problem. When I try to unzip the 2007_toyota_epc_install.zip file I get the message: Blocked for your own protection. I use Windows XP. The help file tells me to right clik on properties and check the unblock box. Surprise..... there is no unblock box.
The question is now; what to do?
The 2nd question is; what to do with the 19 ISO files. I understand that I have to burn CD's from these but I also read about "mounting" or so.
Can anybody shine a little light on what to do next?

Thanks,

Rudi

Back to my problems,

I installed WinRar so now I'm able to un-pack all the zip-files to iso-files and unpack to folders/files.
The question now is: what should be the name of the folder/file if I keep all of it on my hard disk (in my case H) and / or what name if I prepare it for burning on CD's? I mean the CD name/label.

Example; if I unzip the file Toyota_Eur_A1_2007.zip I get a file with the name; 20071121E1.iso.
But if I unzip the file Toyota_Eur_A2_2007.zip I get a file with the name Toyota_Eur_A2_2007.iso.
When I unpack the .iso files do I keep the original file/folder name or do I have to rename them?
I'm looking for the name that will be accepted when you do the CD set up.

Any help is welcome,

Rudi

do not unpack the ISO
this is what is causing you the trouble .
either mount the iso file or
right click on it and select "open with"
and choose your burning program from the list and burn the iso
see pic no need to worry about the name of the disc .that info is in the ISO file already
burn the cd's and try to install it using the installation instructions in the users manual

Thanks pbgbottle,

I'm gonna try that tomorrow. I'm not that computer savvy but can you explain to me what you mean by "mount the iso file" ?
I'm learning every day but have no idea what this means.

Next question,
Where do I find the installation instructions in the users manual?

Rudi

mounting the ISO is using a method so as you do not need to burn the physical disc's.
it is a program that you can run/install that will emulate a virtual CD-rom
and then you can import the ISO file that you downloaded into the program and your computer will think that you actually burned the disc. which you didn't .

where did you get your ISO's from the instruction should be there somewhere .
depending on what your source of the ISO was .will depend on where the instructions are . but there should be install instructions somewhere.
i will try to help best i can . but it might be easier if you just burn a few disc's even using re-writable if need be. just burn a set for the first region you would like to install and give it a go .

 Jake

..

Thanks Jake,

That's a good and clear explanation. I have enough space on my hard disk to do the virtual cd set up but I'll save that for later.
I'll start with the burning of the GEN region and go from there.

Rudi

go for it

either burning cd's or mounting the cd's using a virtual cdrom
it doesn't matter what you do,the end result will still be the same .so if you get the cd's to work .then no need to mess around with the virtual stuff . your good to go .
both methods work and end in the same result ,a working EPC .:bounce::grinpimp:

even using the cd's during install there is an option to copy the data to your hard drive .so in the future you won't need to use the disc's.
the disc are only necessary for the install

the virtual stuff was only mentioned for those people who don't want to burn the actual disc's. it's a work around for not having to burn the ISO's. its just a program that makes your computer think that you did burn the disc's.

Back again

Here I am again. I installed the program EPC 2007 from this link Electronic Parts Catalogues - Page: 1 and burned 4 CD's GEN A1, A2, B1 and B2 from the .iso files to start with.
The CD's are in the E:\ drive and the destination is the H:\ drive.
When I run the CD set up I have the following error message.
error.webp

I also have the 4 GEN files on the H:\ drive and when I try that set up I get the next error message.
error2.webp

Hmmmmm, where goes this wrong?????:confused::confused::confused:

not sure about the first error . usually when you see stuff like that i recommend a reinstall of the program

in the second pic it looks good it is asking you to put the cd =A1 in your cdrom .so it can run the disc.
also in that general box .where you have all the crdom highlighted ,when you hit that add button .change it from cdrom to hard drive. highlight all 4 drives .A1,A2,B1,B2 and hit ok .and read the info on the screen it will ask you for each disc .and copy all the files permanently to your hard drive.

or

in that second pic it is asking for the A1 disc and just hit the retry button and see what happens.

Hi Jake,

I did that 7 times I think in the past two days, including removing traces and checked with registry cleaner. The problem is the same every time.

I did all the things you suggest and tried every possibility but I think I'm gonna give up on this. Maybe the combination Windows 98 for the programm and my Windows XP are not a good combination. Who knows?

I think I going to try another version instead of 2007.
Any recomendations and a link?

Thanks for all the help,

 Rudi

thats too bad you came so close . one more thing even after the uninstall and reg clean you also need to go to your C:drive and delete the three folders .

TMCEPCW2,TMCMSTW2,TMCTMPW2 they don't delete after an unistall

sometimes this causes a problem. it should work on your XP

i have this installed on windows XP,Vista,Vista 64bit,Windows 7,Windows 7 64bit. all is good.

the one you are trying is my favourite one

are you running the setup leaving everything at there default .setting .also leaving the setting, set as standalone install no need to change anything from the defaught location such as drive destination .why is it not installing on your C:drive , it doesn't need to but i was just curious
