I found it. I cut the old one out and welded in one with less rust.

Slowed down again. I had to take the pig out of the shop for a few days to make a bumper for a fj cruiser.

The rocker panel replacement looks like a pro did it :smokin: What are the plans for the sliders? Did you nail down an axle choice yet?

I know that longs in a lc axle are stronger than a dana 60 front but by how much?

Not stronger, but EQUAL to a STOCK 35 spline D60 shaft. Here's the graph taken directly from Bobby's site:

Finally finished the fj bumper. Pig comes back inside real soon. Thank you for the compliment on my rocker. I hope to make quick pregress on the rest of the floor. My goal is fairly clean and functional. Not looking to win any car shows or do a restoration. Just looking to get it back on the road and operational by cruise moab. Most likely it will be down to the wire and I will have to come to moab with a temporary registration..... I know I know I'm a terrible person.

Here's that bumper I just finished. Can't wait to get the pig back inside and continue the work on the floor...

Got the seats back from a friend that sewed back up for me. They came out of a wrecked nissan sentra type r or some garbage like that. A econo racecar. If that makes any sense. They had side curtain airbags that went off thus the need of sewing them back up. And a pic of the progress on the floor....

Bumpers for pigs? Sure I'll make that. I don't mind making bumpers. Pig bumpers are a whole lot easier than that bumper for the fj cruiser I just finished. By the time I was done with it I hated that cruiser....

finally some more progress on pigtown. Seems I have too many friends that want help with their crap in my shop all the damn time. A couple days ago one of those friends had me assist him in putting a pair of 62 axles under his 60 and install a lockrite in his rear axle. Of course due to the common rusty and or seized bolts turned that into a 2 day project. But he promises to put some time in on my project so he says. But here is my floor progress.

So finished up the floor and then I cut some more out. It probably looks like a step backward but I promise it kinda makes sense to me.
The idea is that I have some clearance issues between the oilpan of the V8 and the axle. So I unbolted the crossmember and the engine mounts to move it back and up. The improvements goal from this is to create more clearance for the oilpan and to get the sm465 shifter tower out of the heater box and to bias the weight towards the rear a little. And at the same time I am moving the tranny and t-cases up into the floor to get a real close to a smooth belly. I will have to measure again but I think the clearance under the frame rails is at 24 inches now. I intend for it to get just a touch taller from a few other changes to come but not by much.
I'm hoping to come accross some fj62 axles for it but for now I have fj60 axles. Also looking to put 63 inch chevy's out back. Haven't decided for the front yet....
But here is a pic of the stuff sticking into the floor.

progress....kinda

So yesterday started to pull engine out to put a hole in the firewall to move engine back. What started out as a couple inches turned into 4 inches. I really wanted to get the tranny tower out of the heater box. So tomorrow I will be moving engine mounts on the frame back 4 inches and up 1 inch. Also need to mock possible place to mount crossmember. Then make a new one I guess. When I'm done the engine and tranny and t-cases should be just about level and the I should have real close to a smooth belly. Which I'm totally stoked for! Here's some pics. pic 2 is from the engine bay and the 3rd is from the cab with the engine in it's approximate resting place. Sorry my pictures are terrible. I use my phone. Don't have a snazzy camera.

This one is of the resting place of the tranny tower. And the next is of the engine mount looking down. You can see where the mount is on the frame and the one on the engine to see how far back I am moving it. And a shot of the home for the tranny in the cab. Which means hooray I get to build some more new floor stuff....

BTW we have a set of locked FZJ80 axles lying around (Scott Ray's wrecked 80). $15 hundo and they're yours.. Food for thought man!

Holy crap man! Thats a lot of money. I wish I had it. But I am forced into a budget build. Saving everywhere I can.

Started moving mounts today. Not alot of work done today though. Cut the engine mounts and have them tacked in 4.75 inches back and one inch up. Here is a pic of the poor piggie.

Thanks for the support! Sometimes I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. Or it might be like most of the time I have no idea. Either way. Spent a little time in shop yesterday. But that time was wasted on a dumb friends 60. We put together some H1 beadlocks with 37" swampers and slapped them on his "in process" project. It's a 84 60 with 14 bolt rear, dana 44HD front, TBI 350, sm465 ,NP241, soa on arb 2.5 inch fronts and 3 inch rears. It's big. But full day planned tomorrow on piggie. Hopefully I can get engine back in and start on crossmember for tranny and then start on the new much larger and longer tranny hump in the cab.

Yo. Spent today at the shop. Some of it wasted by taking a load of full garbage cans to the dump. But did make some progress. Put the engine in on the tacked in engine mounts and bolted the t-cases back on for some test fitting. Which showed me that I needed to lose some more floor and massage the firewall some more. So stuff is looking good so far. I think I am done cutting floor. Pulled the engine back out and started patching firewall. Here's a few shots.
