thinking of getting some 33" 10.5 tires bf goodrich all-terrain, do they 4by alright or should i go for the 12.5s with wider rims. gas prices suck.

On clean granite they surprise a lot of people, in the mud they suck, and on the street they are good quiet and smooth. My wife likes them because she hates to slip on wet pavement, she loves rockcrawling and sheH8MUD.

weight would be the factor for determining contact patch with me. 2nd would be seeing others results on that same tire. I watch youtube allot and since me and my rig both don't like weight, I'll cut as much as possible thank you. My rigs will be based around 33/10.50s, and more of a focus on traction diffs. IMO a narrower tire focuses more of the vehicles weight to the ground anyway, and thats what I want. Sand and mud, as of right now are the only places I can think a wider tire is more beneficial.

My BFGs got me stuck everywhere I put them but what do you want and what should you expect from an AT? Let 80s tech ***** about there expectations from an AT. I tend to think we mini owner's live in reality land. (that is to say, 80s tech wants too much from a tire and ***ch and complain when they don't get what they want, and ***ch and complain when the tire it "too" what they want)

BFGs IMO are the best AT out there, alittle heavy yeah, but they make up for it in their 3ply sidewall.

Traction (diffs) is where you get the best results. Make no mistake, you can go allot further w/ less of a tire and traction than more tire and open diffs.

DD with a slight chance of off/roading and I'd stay away from the BFGs.

Why? here ya go: Easy way to increase gas mpg

I had 33-10.50 BFG mud terrains on mine and loved them. They were quiet on the road till about 1/2 way them they picked up the noise.IMO these are the best all around tire on the market in this size.

BFG AT's are good tires. yeah, they suck in the mud. But rock in the snow.
DOnt buy em. Buy the BFG MT's instead. both tires have a long long service life.

GET THE MT"S!

Agreed.

I have seen 40's with stock tires (I think 29's) and a diff lock go through places you would not think possible.

Hey buy my 31X10.50's BGG MT's mounted on stock wheels ( :

I am personally a fan of the Trxus. In fact just replaced my last set with 60 thousand miles on them. This set will last a lot longer though, alignments make a huge difference... We have a set of BFG MTs on our farm truck. I hate the damn things. They get stuck in the most embarrising places, although it could very well be my grandpa thinking the trucks invincible. imho Trxus takes the cake for a smaller radial MT.

If you never plan on wheeling your truck besides maybe muddy roads here and there, get the BFG ATs. Great for a street truck that rarely goes off pavement. If you are looking for a better on/offroad tire that wont get you stuck, go with the BFG mud terrain, or the Goodyear MTR. both excellent street/wheeler tires that have a good life span. Running MTRs right now and I couldnt be happier.

Only downside to those tires is lack of supply. I have 35 MTR's on my runner and it took me 2 months to find one after a blowout in one. And even then only because I found one on Craigslist. Now I had a blowout on My Blazer running 35 inch BFG mud terrains and found out that they have discontinued the old tread pattern and that the new one is only available for 17" and up rims. Good tires, but hard to replace.

Side note, i had some 33" nitto terra grapplers on my Silverado and was very happy with them. Nice ride, quiet on the street and not bad off road, didn't mud them though, this is Cali after all...lol

You are confusing the new Mud Terrain KM2's with the orignal mud terrains which are designated KM's. The KM's are a slightly new tread and replaced the old Mud Terrains. They are available in all the old sizes:

BFGoodrich Tires | Mud-Terrain? T/A® KM | Tire Sizes & Specs

The KM2's are an entirely different animal and are different from anything that BFG has ever made. They are the ones that are only available in 17" and above (although they are supposidly going to make 16" and maybe 15" versions eventually).
