yes i am in between a rut and and hyway on new tires . want to stay 35 ish better for my higher speed driving ,not wanting to go wider than 12.5, i do alot af bush wacking ,definitly not easy on tires. i was thinking toyo opencounry a/t 35/12.50/15 ,1100.00 all in .i put a couple used ones on the back to see how i like them great road manners but fail elswhere compared to the mtrs. i am thinking the open country mt but they look just like my mtrs, they say they balance up way better and like the higher speeds . i need a tire that i can abuse and drive nicely at 160 km. to bad they did not make an m55 in a 35 ''. also i have 15 and 16 '' rims. any quick guidance is appreciated cause fantom is waiting for my mtrs.

Why don't you just go with the toyo mts?
I hear they behave nicely for a mtr on the road and they are quiter than most tires.
Just go with the 315s as they are slightly taller and narrower than your 35/12.5/15s
Easier to get tires in 16 inch too.

OPEN COUNTRY M/T | Toyo Tires

As for your 160km/h holy s*** that is fast in an 81! the mts get around 50,000 miles on them from what I am reading. As for the Q rating which that size has its good for 99mph or 159 km/h

just a through.

I've read they wear quickly on heavy vehicles, but good traction. The weight of the nose of an 80 would wear out tires in the front. George take a look at the tire wear on my Toyo MTs that I used on the front coming back from Moab trip. I think I put at least 2000 kms on them from Oregon and driving around town when I had them put on. I will have to compare them to the Coopers, since they supposed to be better on wear, but it will be a while since I don't drive the truck often as I use to, now that I got the VW beater. I did notice the edges of the Toyos rounding out, but I figure that is normal for the amount of roll my truck has with the soft suspension.

oops not saying i cruise at a 100 but if pussed it is nice to know that you do not have to worry about the tires being the limiting factor.

Rubber never a problem when I get pussed. Spay and neuter your...

Thanks Lance - I looked a did not see that Cooper dealer on the Island. I have used balancing beads - they did not work for those Trxus I had.

I was surprised Jeff didn't beat me to that one. You didn't look like you were doing 160km/h today in that knight street bridge line. More like 16km/h

you want tough - get a bias ply Interco

I would absolutely love to own a set of boggers though I would burn them off. Maybe for the 75 down the road.
I don't think boggers are great long distance tires
Kinda a specific purpose

Interco biasply isn't just boggers, they have a few tread patterens. What I have seen, boggers are the worst on the road, best for mud holes, but not that great on a trail because they have no lateral traction, they keep the truck sliding into trees. The LTB is probably your best all round mud and trail tire as their lugs are pretty deep and they have good side wall lugs as well, but they are second worst on the highway next to boggers (plus side they were pretty cheap when they first came out, not sure how they are priced now). Both boggers and LTB's wear pretty quick compared to the other tires as well. Then there is the TSL or the SX's they will be your best all round mud/ trail tire with some better highway performance than the above mentioned biasplys, but remember it's still a biasply and they still are hard to balance, vibrate slightly, and have quite the howl to them (plus wear a lot faster than radials). There are probably a few other biasply interco tires as well, but I don't really have any experience with them. I personally like the TSL just cause of the old school look of them, plus they work real good in the terrain I like to wheel, I have driven them to Vancouver on the highway a few times plus to California and back for pismo one year, so they are streetable, just be prepared for some fishtailing in snow if travelling in winter!:hillbilly:

good one again cause i was on my way back from doing the used tire loop search . might do the toyo mt tires .lancegrindercruiser has 2 used new ones at ateb .1250 for 4 tires all said and done ouch.

I ran into a guy at the gas station and he said he has 35" x 12.5 Bigfoots on 16's I think it was, mounted on chevy rims. PM me if you want his contact info. He wanted a $1000 IIRC.

why would you love to own a set of boggers ??? they are a mud competition tire for big horsepower rigs at which they excel, but for anything else they are the absolute pits. I think you should join a group and start wheeling (as much as possible), because knowledge without experience is just information

I have always liked the tread pattern and I have friends that have had good results with them. Yes they deal with lots of mud and soft ground like muskeg. Yes their trucks are wheeling trucks.

Take thing with a grain of salt as its a public forum. Did you get bullied recently or something? Everything becomes a pissing contest when you don't like something someone says.

We use our rigs for similar things but not equally. I bought my truck as a tool to get me places like work or to take me fishing, hunting, skiing and exploring. You tend to think that's a waste but hey not everyone is retired and can afford to just have it act as your expo truck. I wish but it just doesn't work that way. So in the mean time I will keep enjoying it and use it for what it's intended for in my books, to be driven and enjoyed.
