Either me or my dealer are clueless on this…
I want to swap the tires on my incoming LC for 275s (instead of the original 265s). He quoted me a price for the new tires ($425/tire) which are actually 285s - which I don’t want). I responded that I should get a credit for the tires they’re getting from the vehicle when it comes to them. He asked me why I should get a credit. I explained the above to him and that other dealers do this.
He just replied that sadly, they are not other dealers and I would be getting two sets of tires if I want something different. Good grief!
So I’m wondering if discount tires would give a decent credit for the original set. Appreciate any advice.

Discount gave me $50 a tire. Better than nothing.

Try posting on Facebook marketplace, I’ve sold several sets of new and used tires over the years. You may be surprised what they’ll fetch.

Very very very few dealers will give you credit for OEM tires. If you want something different pay the man/woman.
Happy to pay… for one set of tires. It’s just that I’ve seen other posts on this forum and others by people doing exactly what I wanted to do, so I’m sure it’s a little more common than “very, very, very few dealers.”

That's not how it work. That's not how it ever works...

I priced at $300 to move them quickly and had six calls in one day. I'd say you could get $400. Discount has them new for $171 each.

Yes, the 1958 comes with smaller stock tires. My LC came with 265/70/18. Pretty standard tire size, so easy to sell.

Never heard of a dealer that would be willing to give you credit for take-off tires, however as others said the original tires should be very easy to sell.
