So i adjusted the distributor to where its supposed to be, pics are attached.
The truck runs and revs fine, but its falling on its face when I try and take off.
The timing with a light in service mode is at 3°...
Note: the rotor button was a tooth retard when I pulled the cap, I figured there was some performance to unlock...im abut to set it back to where it was , but I want to know more about this before I pull my hair out.

Isn't the OEM rotor dark red?

This is what OEM looks like...

cheers,

Did you confirm the #1 piston is in fact at TDC by using a long screwdriver going through the spark plug hole?

I would also make sure the balancer is not separating. Tried to change my distributor due to the inner seal leak and couldn't get TDC using the pulley. Used the long flathead or extension on cylinder 1 to find TDC and saw the indicator on the pulley was way off.

Ironically, just yesterday I was talking to a friend who sold his auto repair business a few years ago; and he mentioned that he's seen that happen more than a few times on various engines, not only Toyota’s.
Certainly could drive a guy crazy

I thought it wouldn't ever happen to me but it happened in my 04 Lexus IS300 after noticing the belt noise didn't go away after changing the belt. Then it happened again in the rig 😆

I think you brought up an excellent point. Given the age of our engines, I think it makes sense to simply proactively swap out the harmonic balancer. There is a thread or two on a suitable replacement that has similar stamping as OEM but without the OEM price. I think I also went that same route years ago just as a PM
