well i am going to have to buy a new battery anyhow for the wifes 95 4runner, so i will be getting another optima yellow top. i will put the new one in my truck and one of my older ones in her 4runner.

My wife would not be happy with that arrangement. LOL

ken i know you dont like sears but the platinum series battery's are re-badges odyssey's, go pick up a platinum and a regular battery the platinum weighs twice as much. ihave been hapily using them in 4 of the 80's with no problems even after weeks of no starting

if i were you id stay away from the optimas there just crap I killed 3 yellow tops and red top untill i demanded my money back and threw in a platinum and its been fine ever since.

btw the optimas there now made in Mexico.

My 1st Optima was a re-baged Interstate... Had it well over 7 years ago. That damn thing was worth every penny I paid and then some.

It was in at least 5 trucks I had, and I even let it set in the back of a truck for prolly the better part of a year... Put it back in a truck and it fired right up.

Wish I could say good things about the **Newer** red tops, but from what I hear...

Seems like you couldnt lose with a yellow top?

i also had my first yellow top slip against a pulley in my 90 4runner 3 slow and ate a hole right in it i did not notice it but when i did it had corroded that one cell out they replaced it no questions ask.

I have known a lot of wheelers who have had yellow and red tops, and the red tops seem to outdo the yellow. Never seen any benefit to having a yellow and they don't seem to last as long. I have a Mile Marker 9500 powered by a red top on my heavy second gen, and I use my winch without mercy in the deep snow all the time.

I put my money were my mouth is and bought a sears platinum. Great warranty, not a recycled battery either, 99 percent virgin lead. So far so good bought I think yellow tops are good to. They just extend the warranty.
