Porsche has done an amazing job at protecting the 911 brand!

Maybe Toyota should have followed that path?!?!

No. The models that are badged "Land Cruiser", which this one is, are the cruisers. Why do I get the feeling people are only upset because the club is going to get less exclusive? And I say who gives a sh*t. Are people's egos this fragile? It's actually pretty funny.

And all those trashing Prados, have you ever driven one? They are bomb proof! I've driven them in the desert, in a combat environment, and it performed flawlessly.
Tampacruiser, I have worked across the world and as such I know the difference between the Land Cruiser and the Land Cruiser Prado. I have driven them in South America and Gabon, West Africa. The Prado 150 and older series are ok, just less capable and in general a bit smaller than the 80, 100 and 200 series.

Like desmocruiser, I will never be convinced the 250 series is a Land Cruiser. It is a Land Cruiser PRADO. Just the 6000lbs towing capability puts it right there as a replacement of the 150 series.

Curious, do you like the 250 looks and its capability and perhaps its fuel consumption and are considering buying one?

Maybe trying to convince yourself and us who actually know it is a Land Cruiser. Wake up dude, it has the addition Prado on it everywhere else except for the US. What a joke.

Seems odd though you would want one when you own a GX460, which while lighter duty, has a fantastic reputation for reliability.

I am also not complaining at all about the GX550. The 3.4 ltr twin turbo V6 gives it a 8000lbs tow rating and as a next generation GX is pretty nice. With potential to be an improvement over the GX460 when they get the reliability right.

There will be many side by side YouTube comparisons when this new LC250 is available to pick apart this new version and everyone will see which is the
most durable and bulletproof SUV on the road. Just give it time and we will all see if this newbie is a light weight or measures up to the standards of the LC200.
We know it will most likely meet the high standards of Toyota, but will it measure up to the even higher standards of the legacy Land Cruise crowd.

Porsche is no stranger to criticism. I remember people losing their minds when the Cayenne and Macaan were first introduced. Saying they were moving away from their roots and losing focus on the 911. Then they were shouting about the move to turbo engines only, no more NA 911’s after 2016 and more recently a host of complaints about the Taycan saying it’s not a “real Porsche”.

Yep, rightly so they were losing their mind. Cayenne and Macaan are VAG push for more sales instead of creating something awesome.

200's just went up in value
I ageee but I really think in this economy spending 100k plus is going to keep many from buying a 2020-21. I think their value will not crash now like a depreciated car but to climb to 120k in this market is nuts. Dealers will have to sit on a $110-120k LC.

Clearly you haven’t spent up close and personal time with the new Toyotas. The build quality and use of durable materials is way down. (Sequoia and Tundra)

Dumping my third gen tundra for a number of frustrating reasons.

Consumer Reports (for what it is) gave a damning review of the new SQ. Gives me pause about the TNGA platform, but maybe an outlier opinion.

Some folks like to say the 4Runner was a Prado, I disagree. It's similar yes, but a Prado it is not.
4R/GX/FJ share almost everything with the Prado. The 4.0 v6 in the 5th gen 4R was a powerplant in the Prado as well. I had a 3-row 5th gen 4Runner. Aside from the different engine, transfer case (the Limted 4R had the same transfer case by the way), and options, it really seems like it was the same vehicle. 4R/GX/FJ all different versions of the Prado for the US market. Prior to 4th gen the 4R was a Hilux Surf.

I hear Toyota is working on the new RAV4 for 2025. Since it is easier to bring less models to the US I guess they could introduce this as "the next generation 4Runner has finally arrived".

I am sure many Toyota 4Runner wannabe's are in the moon right now as it will have a lower MSRP...

Wonder what the 4Runner crowd would say...

Seemed to work out well for them and they still build awesome sports cars. Some of, if not the best on the planet IMO.

Yep, 911 is awesome. In my book the GOAT sports car. No fancier or more expensive one can beat it for the mix of style/capability/heritage. At least Porsche did not label the Cayenne as a 911 and introduced it as the legend continuing...

I have owned many thank you. Three generations of 4Rnners, Sequoia, and currently an LC200.
Would not consider any other brand. My experience with all has kept me coming back for the next.

You just contradicted yourself. I specified the newer generation Toyotas like the Sequoia and Tundra.

How bad can a multi, multi billion dollar car manufacturer be at Marketing and product planning and consumer awareness? It’s astounding what Toyota is attempting to pull off here. Those debuts (both of them) were 100 percent tone deaf.

No one is doubting how awesome 200's are - I had one for 4+ years. It's an amazing truck and has it's uses. This truck will probably also be amazing and have its uses.

Don't think so, I owned a 2004 Sequoia and it was the best of the generations and was bullet proof.
And if you want to split hairs you spelled Sequoia wrong....I am done with this conversation thank you, and I still
love my Toyota SUVs. I also drive a BMW for fun :)

I will probably buy one, actually do like how it looks. The fact it's stripped down actually appeals to me.

Love my GX too. Owned 2x 80s, 40, GX470, and an FJ Cruiser. They all have their particular uses and areas where they are awesome. Owned a 200 for 4+ years. Great vehicle, literally a luxury tank - I just don't think the 200 being great precludes this 250 from also being great.
