Build This years homework

Got a little time to paint up the wheels with some filler primer, scuff, paint. Gonna let them off gas and wet sand then a few coats of clear.

The front of the wheels are the pretty side. I went ahead and scuffed them with a maroon 3M pad and “wet sanded them.”

This is where we were at after a scuff and buff. This was how they looked, no major dings or gouges but enough pits and scuffs to try to fill a few imperfections.

I like filler primer as it goes on easy enough but has some voodoo in it that creates a high build surface which in turn fills some smaller imperfections. Will they be perfect? No, but in honor of Buckey… we are shooting for “better-ness”

After a quick knockdown with a 3M grey scotchbright, it was time to add the color, Smoke Grey as suggested in Nolan’s steel wheel tech thread. Color looks spot on to my eyes. I laid down two coats of color.

Came out nice if I say so myself.

Once I let these guys gas off for a few days I’ll likely wet sand any spots that need it and then a nice layer of gloss enamel to finish them off.

Slapped on some smoke grey… backside only. Once dry I’ll flip them and start on the pretty side.

That’s a friends hobbit sized foot and sandle. I enjoy the much more manly Sketchers step-in’s. I haven’t bent down in years! Haha
