Also I have a decent lock seal I can probably make a good reproduction out of.

I'll get on the ball this weekend and start ordering supplies.

I have only one set L&R NOS if needed to make reproduction.

Like Marshall's list and not to hijack this great thread, but wasn't there a call for one side of these for John at Slowcruisers (he was missing the right or left) so, he could have sets made?

Any way, if you put together a list of needed rubber, I will look and see what I have for use in your efforts Marshall

Yeah I think those will be last on the list. That way we give them time to get them made. If not I will give it a shot.

If its the piece underneath the chrome pieces which flank the license plate, then yes! :grinpimp:

Me either. Thanks for the effort. Was a great try. 3rd hijack over.

Okay- Who wanted to borrow my brand new under handle rubber pieces? I deleted your info

I pm'd you who it was.

Update on my progress.

Things are moving along. I have acquired a pressure vessel and a vacuum chamber as wall as a vacuum pump.

Also have a few samples coming in and a rep visiting me next week on what products to use. There are a lot of them.

Good news. Plastic pieces will be a snap to reproduce. Clear, red and amber lenses will also be trouble free. I see reverse lights and license plate light lenses in our future. I have good oem parts for these.

Now for the not so bad news. Rubber is a heck of a lot harder to do. Making a piece would be no problem but so far the 3 manufactures who supply the chemicals say that there is no UV resistance built in to them. This means direct sunlight would degrade the product. One manufactures says there product has no issues but they didn't sound like they knew their product well. Parts that don't see direct sun wouldn't be an issue. (parking brake boot, rear engine hood seals, etc...)

Hoping to start ramping up around Christmas.

Cool project and cool potential stuff.

While I am not sure of the feasibility of making affordable pig rubber, I'd love to see it. With the cost of past reproduction stuff, I felt like I was better off just buying an extra pig with better weather stripping for the same price (or less).
