those pics are perfect, thanks a lot! one of the 2H engines at my disposal has the factory AC bracket on it. i guess the next step is to find an AC unit that'll work and go from there. looks like the Ac shares the belt with the alternator, waterpump and crank.

here's the next question: what to run for the crank pulley? the engines i have only have single groove pulley at the crank. i will need at least two groves and from what i saw in the dealer's pics, the second pulley can be bolted on. is that correct? or do i need to get a double stamped pulley/harmonic balancer combo to get this handled?

thanks again for the input, i do appreciate it!

From a liability stand point I would go with the double stamped pulley with all the goodies. I wouldn't trust the bolted together version do to the untangibles. I would hate for it to come apart at speed. Unless you could weld the bolt/nut..but then are you making the pully unbalanced?

I can't wait to see the prototype!

a diesel powered troopie "at speed"?! haha, bawahaha, bawahahahahaha!

i hear ya rod. i've contemplated the same issue but then again, the 13Bts use a bolt together crank pulley setup. waterpump pulleys are bolt-ons as well as smog pump pulleys.......

either way, i'll try to track down a double crank pulley setup. the 12Hts came with them so i'll start there.

How about a kit for those of us petrol folks!?

Power steering is one of my next mods...I just would hate to order the wrong stuff from OZ...a kit here in the US would be welcome.

For me, reliability and parts availability would be much preferred over OEM Toyota...mine's a expedition rig; not a restoration.

I was also making the assumption that the owner would be bolting it on leaving room for error. If you were doing it at your shop in a controlled area I'm sure everything would be aces..

the only difference between a LHD and RHD power steering system is the length and location of the ps lines and the inside-outside frame mounting location of the ps box. for a RHD gasser, you'd want to run a sag box from a chevy pickup; pretty much any 70s vintage.

my ps plate kit will still work. :)

That, my friend, is good to know!

i'm putting a 2h in my lv and have already gathered up mini truck parts, but have never felt great about it. main reason i chose this route was because i had no way of mounting a sag pump and i heard a sag pump and mini truck box together sucked a fat one. put me down for one.

HJ47 Power steering and aircon

My 83 HJ47 has aircon is there room for the power steering? If you guy get this worked out send me the bill for parts. Sign me up as the first buyer.

very cool, thanks for the replies guys, i do appreciate it.

there will be room for Ac and ps with this setup. i will use my trooie with the 2H as a guinea-pig for the conversion. i will also post lots of pics as we go along.

the 'kit" will not be available in a couple of weeks but by the end of sept or mid oct i plan on being able to ship them out. i should be able to do it well before then but i don't want to promise being able to ship them in a month and then not come thru. the prototype will be done within a month for sure.

Rock on Georg, I can't wait for this. I have a new obsession to think about all day and it's power steering. And people say "OCD" like it's a negative thing.

since i have an hj45 troopie as well, i will attempt to make the brackettry work on the H and 2H.

been super busy at the shop with no helper so things are a little behind schedule. but we're still on track.

OCD?! does that stand for:

Obscessive
Cruiser
Disorder

if so, then i've finally been diagnosed. by myself!

then again, sometimes i'm an

Outta
Controll
Dumbass

LOL!

Yep, either one will work.

I ran across this power steering box while googling...

Looks like a sag box, but on the right side. I think someone said something about the PTO for the winch getting in the way, but if i don't have that worry then it should work, right? Not that I want to spend $300+ on a PS box...
