Thinking about a diesel

Wouldn't it be great if all engines had the same motor mounts and mount locations in every car? Haha
There's quite a bit of options here for me here. Fuel efficiency, highway speeds and part availability are my biggest concerns for the engine.
Looking on eBay I found alot of 2h engines mostly all from Australia. Couldnt find many 3b online, the 1hz is out of my price range. 12ht sounds great but parts are hard to come by.
So it seems as just go with the og 2f for the meanwhile or pay a butt load for shipping a 2h to California from Australia.

also 5 speed is a forsure in the future.

Somebody in north Dallas found me one of these recently.
;)

3B with PS/H55F with rare top cover/34mm split case T/C. It will end up with a turbo (Diesel42 or AXT) eventually and with a rear fully floater.

With a turbo HP and Torque will be close to a 1HZ

Now need to find a frame/body

Do you have a graph like that for the 12HT as well? @ERNRAM

Please talk to Joe @joekatana for 3B and other diesels. I have bought many things from him and he is a great guy and has a huge knowledge base of what works and best fit for performance expectations.

I can add it in the morning if you want it.
;)
yes please ;) paper says the 12HT generates pretty much the same bhp and more torque than a 1hz but would like to see it on a graph compared

The administrative process for converting a 1997 or earlier vehicle to diesel is not difficult.

It involves an inspection at the DMV or with a verifier (both motor and VIN), sign a motive power change declaration, plus re-title as a diesel. Diesel vehicles pre-98 do not have bi-annual inspections in CA. The basic rule is that the motor must from same year or newer as the vehicle (date of actual build, not model year), and the motor must come from same class of vehicle. Import per EPA is 21 years or older for non-US motors, and you need to have all original emissions controls. The sweet spot now is 1996 for importing and installing a 1HD-FT, 1HD-T, or 1HZ powerplant. 1975 and earlier there are even fewer hoops.

The physical process of conversion costs more time and money for sure.

thanks @ERNRAM

man, the 12HT really isnt that far off of the 1HDT :D surprised by the figures for the 1HZ-T though. i wonder what boost that was run at

Is spending a couple grand more for a 3b worth it over the 2f since they aren't that far apart in comparison?

depends on what you want. if your not worried about efficiency, then stick to the 2F. its smooth and has plenty torque. but if your worried about what a 2F can do to your wallet at a fuel pump, then 3B

Would adding a 5 speed h55 help out with highway speeds and fuel efficiency while still having the power and torque?

yes, but your never going to get close to the 3B efficiency with a 2F. the fact is, the 2F is a thirsty motor. i love it, its powerful, torquey, smooth and sounds awesome. but it will never have good efficiency. thats why i went to 12HT

The 1HZ needs the "right turbo" to come alive. One "size fits all" doesn't work well on the 1HZ.

Have a 3B in my BJ42. and love it. Good fuel efficiency.
Parts are available up here, if I would mod, a turbo would be high on the list.
Try to find a 13BT you will be happy and parts are available.
The 12HT great engine but try finding part on this side of the globe.
Remember that the US buck is almost 1.4 CDN buck.
