No argument here whatsoever. Increased miniturization, increased integrated systemization and smart technologies are going to be the car/truck of the future.

50 years from now, people off-roading in the 2050 Land Cruiser are going to laugh at the technologies that we use today.

That said, I think I'll still hang with my older Land Cruiser.

;)

In 2050 they are going to look down from their 'replusor fitted' LC and see all of us driving on the actual ground and be like:

"how can they drive on the ground? what fun is that?"

Rear diff. is pretty big too, though I don't know if it is the same rear diff as in the Tundra.

I keep seeing this over and over. Doesn't anyone have a definitive answer? Is it Tundra or not? That is what I'd like to know.

Hey dt255-Could you take a picture of your rear differential? Also a measurement of the diameter? Then we can make a direct comparison to the older LCs. It would be great if it used the diff from the new tundra, because you can bet ARB will make an airlocker for it.

As we know, I am a newbie on alot of this stuff.

Is that the box in the center of the rear axle?

Thanks for the direction

UPDATE: Forget it...got my answer..I will try and take pics tomorrow...also the measurements.

I believe it is a new 8.7" front diff and 9.5" rear diff

It is interesting how Toyota marketed the 200.

The new Sequoia will take care of the Tahoe crowd (IFS,IRS) so taking the soccer mom circuit.
The LX570 will take care of the finger sandwich crowd so along with the Audi Q/Range Rover market

It will be interesting to see where the 200 slots in with buyers

That's cool-so it's using the 9.5 traditional LC diff. I wonder if it's still a drop out type or if they switched to a Dana type set up. dt255's pictures should answer that! I wonder how many splines at the diff end of the rear axle half shafts?

I think the 200 will target the Taureg crown. The trucks look uncomfortably alike. (Notice, I made no reference to Highlanders!)

THE PRESSURE!!!

Oh and I did notice

I doubt there is much cross over though "Cruiserdan" could tell us for sure. The Tundra is a US/Canada market only vehicle (no one else want's such big pickups) and the Land Cruiser is a world wide market truck with a relatively small North American presence.

I believe the LC is targeted at the baby boomers that bought the 100. These are folks that would not drive anything else even if it was given to them for free. They do not want a Lexus, Benz or Rover, they just want to play that poor pitiful role in their 73k Toyota.

It's sad to think....
I always told myself I'd stay hip to the music, the fashion, that I'd never be that "old out-of-style" guy.
I'll keep my old crap, but will embrace the new vehicles. After all, we'll just start carrying PDA's while we trail ride that will link up to satellites and diagnose the current issue and then display the necessary steps to fixing it on our inboard projection monitor. Not if, but when this happens since it almost already is...

Or in the next few years we'll end up with nano-bot equipped...self-repairing vehicles. Takes all to fun out of it!

Until one needs a hydrospan, I won't be happy!
